While cleaning my 625-8 jm, I noticed what looks like a crack on the downstream side of three of the six holes in the cylinder. I don't know what to do with the gun. Are these normal? Is it safe? The gun is a year or so old. Thanks in advance for the advice.

That's not a crack. That's a slight irregularity on the face of the cylinder that's now visible because it has fouling in it. You could soak it in solvent and scrub it with a bronze brush, but I'd just ignore it. Keep in mind, your enlarged thumbnail is at least 6-8X scale.

Thanks, this is my only revolver. I am a 1911 guy, but I love this gun. I just freaked when I was cleaning it and saw three of those marks. I will do as you suggest...What a great rescource this forum is..

Sorry about the scale of the picture. I don't know how to scale it down.

No need to apologize. Our normal problem is getting people to magnify the view enough that we can see what's going on. No problem with your pic.

BTW, welcome to the Forum.

Not a crack, and if it does crack it won't be there and not like that. Every year there are a couple guys that post on this forum all freaked out about the crack on the right side of the frame which usually ends up being the side plate. It happens, especially when you are unfarmiliar with something.
