Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

I've never had a bad meal or experience at a Cracker Barrel, but I'm sort of like Yogi Berra about the place. I don't go there much because it's too crowded. I'm not eating at any place where I have to take a number and sit around and wait.

There's another place just down the street.

We always try to get there either a little earlier or a little later to miss the crowds and the noise, but sometimes it can't be helped.
One thing I go for specifically is their Lemon Pepper Trout, I just love their Trout.
Breakfast for me they make everything good that I like!;)
At the end a visit to the candy isle, they have a lot of old time candies that we grew up with and can't get elsewhere, my wife always has a fit!:D

The family and I just ate at Crack Barrel a couple of days ago. Food was good. I had the grilled chicken with chiles and cheese - whatever they call it. It was delicious. Server was slow and not very attentive, though. Of course we picked up some candy on the way to the register afterward. Maple pecan fudge and Bob's mint sticks. Hard to beat those. We also got some orange hard candy balls in a cardboard box made to look like a wooden crate. Not sure of the brand, but those are delicious.

EDIT: I just walked into the kitchen to check and to pop one into my mouth. They're called Perle di Sole - made in Italy.

Enjoyed reading through the posts....
It's funny - CB is the interstate version of Heaven's Waiting Room.

I'm a people watcher hobbyist. Watch old guys enter the dining area. Almost invariably - mouth open, slightly confused look, the classic slow head swivel, unable to keep up with the hostess going to the table.

The irony is not lost on me that most of the decor is American made stuff (what's actually old), and everything in the 'store' is courtesy of China.

Heck, I remember the outhouse and a Sears catalog.

SURE. THE Sears catalog torn into squares sitting on a nail in the outhouse. A bag of lime nearby that only Dad or Grandad could throw down the hole.......But God, it was cold in the winter time...

I worked for Medieval Times, and worked with a man that actually duplicates the items found in the castles. Very interesting how some of the items are duplicated in the fashion the original items were made. When my wife worked at Cracker Barrel I was surprised to learn ALL the items are original....not duplicates.

Sounds like C.B. may be crowding American Pickers style a bit. They also still use repo stuff.

The last two times I've been to Cracker Barrel have convinced to never bother to go again. The next to last time I was there, there were three strands of long black hair on my plate which was sent back. My hair is snow white! The last time I was there, I found a piece of green colored glass in my food. Lucky I saw it on the plate and didn't discover it by eating it.

Cracker Barrel - Never Again!

Frequent the Cracker Barrel weekly. Know the manager well. Everything on display is 100% authentic and local to that particular area. They buy estates and are second only to the Smithsonian in artifacts. He said a customer recognized a picture on the wall as relatives and they presented it to him gift wrapped. Like them or not they are the real deal.
