It has been miserably hot and humid (even for Florida) we finally got a little break from the high temps with a thunderstorm, low and behold, nearby lightning just took out my condenser. When I it gets through storming I will go check, with luck it will just be a capacitor. Getting service out here in the boonies is expensive and the wait is generally long.

Came back from vacation in England to find one of our units in a similar state. Ace Hardware had the part for about $28. Would have been 10x that for a call out.

I was born here and when I tell people growing up we didn't have a/c , they look at me like I'm crazy . No ceiling fans either , but they came along later . They had those long chains and you had to plug them in . If it was really hot we'd put a box fan in the window . I could still do it , but the better half would be heading for a hotel .
