I had my #2 Moderna Covid shot on Friday the 19th. Got up
Saturday and the arm was sore. Much more so than with #1.
About Noon I started a rip-roaring headache. By afternoon I
was having difficulty breathing.

My daughter said I think I should take you to the VA/ER.
I said lets go.

This is Tuesday the 23rd, so I was in the VA hospital for 4 days
and 3 Nights. I was carrying a lot of extra fluid up around my
lungs and other places. The gave me a medicine by IV that
caused me to get rid of all of that excess fluid.

My discharge papers they called the episode exacerbation of
congestive heart failure. I know I've had the congestive heart
failure for several years, but this is the first time I exacerbated
it. I think it was related to the Moderna shot.

Glad you are out and feeling better. You experience concerns me, as I get my second Moderna this Friday..... Hopefully my shot will not be as traumatic as yours was. I'm a bit younger with no health issues at this point.

Well, Phil, I'm glad that's behind you. I guess it's difficult to prove whether it was caused by the shot, but it's possible. I know a bunch of folks who've gotten Moderna shots, and most of them have had nothing beyond a sore arm. I'm supposed to get my second Pfizer shot in a couple weeks. First one gave me chills, aches, and a very low grade fever for a couple hours about 18 hours after the shot. I'm hoping the second isn't any worse.

I got my 2nd Pfizer shot on the 19th... it kicked my behind for two days.

The day after the shot, I developed a 100 degree fever, was one big body ache, bad headache, very fatigued and nauseated.

I had all of the "other side effects" listed on the CDC website for the Pfizer vaccine.

I had no reactions to the 1st shot other than my arm being sore until the next day.

I'm told that the reason for the two shots is the first one "primes" the body's immune response, and has milder side effects.

The second one causes your body to do a ramped up, full out response, that produces enough antibodies to ensure long-term protection.

Thankfully, it only lasts 2 days like they say, but it was pretty miserable.

I've heard that the second shot will make your arm sore, at least. I'm waiting for my second shot of Moderna.
It's a good thing you went to the hospital with the breathing issue. That's a red flag item.
Glad it's behind you and you're feeling better.
I had no reactions to the first shot and I hope the second one is the same.

I had the 2nd Pfizer on Monday. Yesterday the arm was a bit sore, but not as sore as when I got the Zoster shots. For a couple of hours last night I felt a bit "punky", and felt like I had a fever even though the thermometer said otherwise. It soon passed and I feel pretty good this morning.

I'm glad to hear you made it through okay.

And for those who see this as food for worry: if Phil's episode was indeed tied to the vaccine, thank goodness that he got the shot. If the vaccine elicited this response from his immune system, he wouldn't be around to post, if he got Covid instead.

I'm glad you're home and okay!

My wife and I got the J&J vaccine two weeks ago. Her arm was sore for days, but that was the only side effect. I didn't experience anything whatsoever.

Glad to hear you pulled through it OK Phil.
A friend in his late 70's/early 80's had almost the same reaction that you described and it lasted 3 or 4 days as well.
He pulled out of it OK too.
