My only remaining police stamped revolver is a Model 36 from 1971.

According to Roy's letter, "... it is in the middle of a group of 60 revolvers specially manufactured for the New South Wales Police Department of Australia. It is my opinion that this revolver was accidently [sic] shipped to a domestic distributor by mistake."

Does that mean it's the only one in the U.S.A.? We'll probably never know for sure unless another one surfaces.

The Latin proverb in the ribbon at the bottom of the logo means, "Punishment follows closely behind crime's heels; crime doesn't pay," according to WordSense Dictionary online.

Despite the deplorable job I did cleaning it before I shot these photos, it's absolutely pristine -- as new in the box.

I saw a Model 10 with the same agency logo enscribed on the sideplate while browsing a Facebook group. I tried to buy it from the owner, but he didn't want to go through all of the import paperwork; he lived in Australia.

This doesn't have any police markings but it letters to the Manchester, NH police department, 1936.

No. He died in 2007, ironically hit by a truck on a Sunday morning while pulling out of his driveway. Survivor of dozens of shootouts and he died on his way to church.

There was a post in here a few months ago that the author had a bunch more and Amazon had them. I immediately ordered one. It is even autographed by the author. A very good read. Cirillo was WAY before my time but a few of his shootouts happened either in my old neighborhood while I was still living there(had no idea), or in my old precinct

There is pretty much nothing a good librarian can't get for you if it has been printed, even at a small-town library. Just try hard NOT being curmudgeonly about gun-related books and political correctness

I've been hesitant to check out gun-related material from the library. I live in a blue county in a a relatively red state (Indiana). I'm going there tomorrow

It's not worth that much to me. I know some older trainers. It might be worth asking them if they have one I can borrow

The co-author who holds the rights to the book was on the forum a while back and explained it. If I remember correctly, he was working on a revised new edition, and when the old print edition was all sold out, he pulled everything including the Kindle version in anticipation of the new edition. No idea where that is at now.

I purchased it Antique Arms Show in Las Vegas in 2020. The seller was a retired L.A.P.D. officer, said the gun was owned by another officer and had it converted to double action only and had carried it on duty. The grips that came with it were crafted by John Hurst.

Curious what the duty load was for that M29 used by Louisville SWAT....

Even though I'm retired LE, don't have any agency-marked hardware. My department never marked weapons.
Did miss out on one very high on the cool-scale years ago and regret not getting it.
There was a large LE supply store in my city and they usually had a good stock of LE trade-ins, both handguns and long guns, which usually meant shotguns.

On the shotgun rack was an Ithaca M37 Police/Riot that had been satin-nickeled. Walnut stock and forend.
On port side of the receiver in block letters: NAGS HEAD POLICE DEPARTMENT.
(Nags Head is a small town on NC's Outer Banks - very much a saltwater environment, hence the satin nickel plating)
Think it was ~$200.
There were beat-up Mossberg 500's 18" for $100.

Thought hard about the Ithaca and came back a few days later to get it. - of course it was gone.
That one haunts me.

bloodandguts, surely you are hunting for one of the Kansas City PD Pre-War .357 Magnums that were purchased in 1939/1940, and also for the gun that replaced them in 1957 - the K-38 Masterpiece Heavy Barrel - both pictured below…..

I have a handful of LEO guns. One of my favorites is my 38/44 Heavy Duty that was shipped to the Kansas Highway Patrol in 1954. Shows wear from being in service. Not pristine. A working gun that is fun to shoot. Enjoy. Jh

From that agency I have a 686, 66, and P226. The 66 was issued to their helicopter pilot. He couldn't operate the chopper comfortably with the big revolver on his side. He received permission to carry a 2.5" 66 instead. The 4" variant that I have is mint and it came with a matching box

I haven't been able to determine what load they used. Some here say that a magnum load was officially used. The city council became disturbed that officers were carrying such a powerful round and required the TAC team to issue 44 specials. Another source told me the TAC members started issuing Elmer Keith-type 44 specials (which are really magnum loads in a special casing.)

In regards to that Ithaca. I've heard of that town in North Carolina; if my memory serves me correctly, a civil war battle was fought near there. Anyhow, I've learned my lesson about thinking things over. If it is cool and if I can afford it, I buy it. That would have been a cool addition to any collection.

I am definitely on the hunt for one of each. My last full year of nursing school is coming up and I'm taking a break from buying for a little while. The RM's cost more than a year of schooling for me haha

Does the backstrap have any agency markings?

That is a really nice specimen. I have a Kansas Highway Patrol S&W 686. The agency's shield is engraved on the side plate. It is a wonderful piece

In addition to the letter, Mr. Jinks sent the invoice for 100 guns in the same configuration going to the KHP. I'd like to find a KHP 686 because I live in Kansas. My Dad was an Iowa Highway Patrol Sergeant. I have a 66ND that is a Police gun. Waiting for the letter to determine which agency. You have a very nice collection. Jh

Hey Roy-Nice visiting with you yesterday. My Dad didn't have an ISP gun because when he was there, it was still the Highway Patrol. Today I had out my FHP 27-2 nickel 5 inch guns. One of my favorites. Enjoy the photo. And tell your son thank you for getting in the profession. Jh

That is an awesome collection you have and thanks for the kind words. I have two revolvers from the Iowa State Patrol- a 66 and 686. Both have 4" barrels. I'm after one of their 13's and a 2.5" 66.

The Kansas and Iowa guns do not come up often. I wish you the best of luck in your pursuit

I've never seen a NYPD revolver marked like yours. I've seen Rugers marked SPNY, but never a marked Smith. That is pretty cool
