CS-9 is jamming

I thought it was the Prvi Partizan range ammunition but it got stuck a few times with a couple of other brands. Just "stuck". Round didn't feed into the chamber. Easy to get it in but not easy to understand why it stopped in the first instance. All hardball rounds; no fancy stuff.

How old is your recoil spring? That would be my first thought. Is it hanging up on the feed ramp, stove piping or something else?

I've never had a problem like this with any of my 3rd Gens, but my Bersa 380 is very sensitive to bullet shape.

Age of recoil spring would be my first question as well. Recommended to change out every 5 years/5,000rounds. Lack of lubrication could also cause issues.

My CS9's and other 3rd Gens are not picky about ammo, especially FMJ.

Could be weak recoil and/or magazine spring. Might also be a sharp edge at the chamber mouth that is catching the mouth of the case. I did run into the sharp edge issue with my 6946.

Just got my CS9 (review coming), and ordered and installed new factory recoil spring (midway $3...got 2) before I make first trip to range. New spring was over 1/2" longer than existing spring...and that's from a brand new looking pistol. And Slide WAY harder to rack that when I first took possession. I'd try that first. Sounds like you are having FTC (failure to chamber). You have the spring loading of next round in mag pushing up against bottom of slide, and new round going up feed ramp that recoil spring has to overcome to chamber round. I'd buy new spring first, lube rails with good gun grease (I love lubriplate, that I get from lubrikit.com) and take it to the range again. Will probably solve your FTC issue. Report back!! Doug

Magazine spring is another cheap form of insurance. I'd definitely do the recoil spring first, and then a magazine spring.

The comments about lubricating the rails are also good advice. I too Lubriplate (105 Assembly Grease) and it works well. It's available in auto parts and marine supply stores. Very inexpensive for a huge tube.

I don't mind tinkering some but I did forget to mention that the gun did it with both magazines. I'll get a new recoil spring first.

Buy 2 or 3, since they're cheap, and shipping will be about $5 regardless of quantity. Recommended change at 5k rounds and may be very hard to find then. Good time to by others if needed to soak up shipping better.

I agree with what the other members have said. New springs and then use the Lubriplate. I also keep that in stock around my shop as well. Its the best lube going. I get mine from a GM. Dealer as I get a very good discount being a GM employee re-tired now..
