I recently purchased a CS45 in great shape last week, and I'm already in love with it. However, I'm not a huge fan of the chunky Hogue rubber grips that it has on it. I looked around the interweb and found that a company called Big Dog Grips used to make the nice plastic checkered grips found on other 3rd Gen Smith Autos, for the CS45. I emailed the company and they replied that they shut down operations a couple years ago. Does anyone on here have a pair of the plastic Delrin grips for the CS45 that they would be willing to part with? Also let me know if anyone has a clue where I could find them. I've searched high and low for them, but some extra eyes would be helpful. Thanks Gents and Gals.

Our friend at KSD grips say they can produce a set of their rather handsome wood grips for the CS45. I have ordered a set and (when they finally show up) may be an alternate to Big Dogs without a lot of experimentation.
You're certainly right about those Hogue grips, though. These feel especially sticky (like they may be deteriorating all by themselves), and I would surely like to get rid of them.

Thanks for the replies guys. As much as I would just rather order a pair and slap em on, it doesn't look like that's an option. Hey, I could always use another little project :). It doesn't look overly complicated and I'm pretty handy with a dremel.

So I went through with making the grips myself. Got almost everything done today, except for the grip pin hole (pin comes tomorrow). I think I'm going to leave the grip long, as it gives me a little more purchase. Only issue will be that empty mags won't drop free during mag changes. But a little quick flick of the wrist will take care of that. Let me know of your guys' thoughts.

thinblueline did you use the full size grip or the grip from the compact 7-round guns? Looks VERY good! Regards 18DAI

Thank you. I used a 7 round compact grip from a 4516 for this build. It was a little dremel intensive, but only took about an hour to get it appropriately affixed to the frame of my CS45.

Thank you all for your feedback. Well here is the final product of my project, pinned and all. I do have to say that the pinning was more difficult than expected. It was tough to make sure that you were drilling in the correct place, even when marking it with white paint through the the grip pin hole. But overall, I'm very pleased with the outcome! Ran 50 rounds through yesterday (all I had on hand unfortunately), but I plan on putting at least another 100 through by this weekend.
