Just got a used CS45, and am quite happy with it, however...
A while back there was a thread concerning the trigger play(?) spring.
That if it was bent or broken, or not there at all, you'd hear a clicking
noise during take-up in SA mode.
I noticed a clicking noise in SA, and on looking around with the slide off, the trigger jumps around when working the trigger. I would have thought that the trigger would not be able to do this, as it a mounted
on a pivot-pin.
Any thoughts on this? Is it time to call S&W?
Gun works just fine in all respects.

Trigger issue

I had the same problem with my CS45, never really found what the problem was as I sent it off to S&W for there 3rd generation auto pistol tune package. When she came back everything was smooth as silk and it shoots like a performance center gun, it's a keeper now.

your trigger play spring is either out of adjustment, missing or broke off.

in the pic is the gold spring riveted to the trigger bar, either with two fingers looking up or has a piece across the top connecting the two fingers.

the fingers of the spring ride up against the trigger hooks in single action mode to keep the trigger from flopping around. there are two teeth or fangs of the trigger hooks that ride in the v-notch of the trigger bar. with the trigger play spring missing or out of adjustment, the fangs will ride out of the v-notch or flop around in single action mode.

in a sense...not really broke and I shot a match with mine broke off as I never knew it was missing as I shot all my first shots DA and then follow up shots were SA and then decocked after each stage. the trigger play spring's only job is too keep the SA trigger from flopping around. if you never take your finger off the trigger while shoot or dont manually cock the hammer, you will never know its missing.

SW CQB 45 & Fastbolt,
As my hand strength is pretty much gone, I had to wait until yesterday to have my LGS check out the spring. I'd originally asked about the trigger return spring. On using the proper name, he looked at
the trigger play spring, and tweaked it a little. Voila! Click gone.
I have made myself a promise to never pay attention to that noise again, nor will I attempt to "tweak" it. This gun is a shooter, and will be
used as such. It can click all it wants.
Thank you for your help and the great pictures. Problem resolved!
