I ran across a LNIB CS9 Chiefs Special today. What is a good price for them. The Pawn Shop is asking $600. I would think that is high, but what is a fair price for it?

These little pistols are all over the broad, with the best buys being the blued ones. There's a stainless on GB right now , it's at $720 now, with box, papers and 5 mags . What have I read on this forum 'you can't pay to much, you only buy to soon' So I guess it's your call.

I just picked up a very nice stainless CS40 for $425, the CS9 probably goes for a little more. Mags can be had on Numrich for $30.

I paid $300.00 plus a s&w shield valued at 430.00. Over 700.00 in value. I buy the 3913tsw 7 rnd mags(better for ccw). Big dogs working on spacers for the 3913 8 rnd mags. (plus 1). Mine was lnib also.
If it's Stainless, in great condition, and comes with box, paperwork, and extra magazines, then it might be worth it. Deduct money for any of those that are missing.
The 3913TSW magazines are the same as the CS9 magazines, but have a different floor plate. The CS9 butt plates have a pinky hook, which always made me nervous about hanging up when I concealed carried. I replaced them with the flat butt plate from the 3913/14 series.

It's worth what you want to pay. I wouldn't fault anyone that needs to buy a great gun and can afford $600.
I looked at a very fine CS45 for $540 and passed because I have the ultimate CCW, a 3913TSW and a wife that vetoed a new gun because we just put $16K into a new roof. If I really HAD to have it, I would have gotten it along with .45 dies.
For what it's worth, one of our members drove about 90 miles to buy it. I think he got a honest deal.

I prefer a properly outfitted cs9 for ccw, and I have both a 3913nl and cs9 with big dog grips and 3913tsw 7 rnd mag.

I've been looking for one for a couple of years now. I have come to the conclusion that I will have to pay the high price. I turned one down a year ago the was north of $500 and I've been kicking my since ever since. I'm still looking

Fwiw the CS9 on GB went for over $1100 which makes the OPs price from the pawn shop a jump on it deal. It's funny there was a CS45 that was a no sale on GB today also, the guy was trying to get $470+ and no movement on it.
I think it would depend on a number of variables. I don't think my CS9 would be worth that much, but I'd certainly be happy to sell it for $500.00 if I could actually convince myself to put it on the market.

I paid $525 out the door for a carbon steel CS9 from an individual back in April. It had no box or papers, but had two magazines. It also came with like-new Meprolight night sights installed, a second set of Trijicon night sights, a replacement steel guide rod with it's spring, both flat and curved mag floor plates, and a DeSantis holster. I've been more than satisfied with the purchase. It's my main summer carry weapon. (As the Texas summer cools, I plan on switching to a 908S. If we have any winter, I'll go to a 6909.)
One note. The mags from the 3913 will fit, but will extend beyond the bottom of a CS9 grip. The CS mag holds seven rounds; the 3913 mag holds eight cartridges.

Early, non rail, 3913/53TSW magazines are seven rounds. All other 3913/14/53 guns are indeed eight round magazines.

I didn't pay $600 for mine, but you know, now that I'm familiar with the CS9 the idea isn't outside of the realm of possibility.
There was a passing remark earlier in this thread about the possibility of spacers to use 3913-sized magazines. That would really be the icing on this little stainless steel cake in my book.

What variables ? It wasn't listed as LNIB just excellent used and as I had already said , box and papers . Did the trigger lock push it up or the 4 extra mags ?
As far as selling a gun , I'm in the same boat as you . I have seen a few Beretta Elite II's sell for over $1200 . I have one with less than 100 rds through it, all the paper , both boxes and the bill of sale that I can't quite convince myself to sell.
Used gun prices are all over the place right now and make no sense . A person came on the forum a couple of weeks ago asking about the price on 4563tsw . He got about 10 responses and the pistol has been on GB for about 2 weeks with no bids.
What was it 2 years ago there were 3913's for sale cheep almost everywhere , now they are like the gold standard.
I wasn't referring to the one on GB, but the one the OP referred to. I didn't see any details on that one. Prices are in fact all over the place. A LGS had a 3913 with one magazine listed for $399.99. That was on Saturday, they were closed Sunday and Monday. Today, it's gone from their website. I wasn't in the market, but someone certainly was and snatched it up quickly. They also have a Shorty 40, but that's priced at $700.00.
I think bargain of the year was my pre rail 3913TSW, which I got out the door with 2 magazines for $425.00.

About a month ago, I saw both a CS9 and a CS45, both stainless, at Cabelas. Both were listed at $399. Looks like I should've bought both!
It really is about what it is worth to you. I few months ago I paid $782 for a minty 3913tsw pre rail with 3 magazines. I live in California. The state's Department of Justass has a list of approved (safe) handguns. The list is shrinking rapidly, as the manufacturers are not renewing some listings. I wanted a 3913, but could not find one locally for a FTF purchase. When I saw the TSW (still on the list) on Gunbroker, I saw my chance.(the standard 3913 has dropped off the list) .Went a little higher than I wanted, and had to import it into California, but I got a wonderful gun that I may never see available to me in Cal. again. Yeah- I paid a lot, but to me, it is worth it.

I just purchased a brand new CS9 at a LGS. My intent for this visit to the LGS was to buy a G21. As I waited for the clerk I saw the CS9. This was brand new as equipped from S&W. The clerk said he has worked in the store for 8 years and it was there since he started. Price $505 not including tax or DROS. Needless to say I bought it. I can always get a G21 later. Finally, I have one of those lucky gun score stories and in CA of all places!
