CSX Manual Safety Question

I'm loving my new 3.6 CSX E.
The only thing I've noticed is that the manual safety lever has some wriggle and sometimes gets stuck on the slide when I'm thumbing it up to the safe position.
I've only had the pistol for two weeks, and have put a couple hundred rounds through it, but there's already some wear behind the safety lever where some of the coating has worn off.
I'm guessing the lever is pressing up against the frame while I'm shooting.
Is this normal?

No problems with mine. Nice firm click up and down. Just took mine out on Friday.

I was looking forward to carrying it, but I guess I'll call S&W support and see what they say.
This would be the second S&W pistol that I'd have to send back in for repairs soon after purchasing it.

mine has the same wear mark but I believe it is caused by engaging the safety lever.
with the safety off there is no possible way for it to contact the slide.
Just normal break-in wear.....no worries unless it becomes a problem later which I doubt.

Maybe you're right, and I should give it some time.
It shoots fine and the safety mechanism works.
I tend to ride the lever while shooting so that's probably aggravating the wear.
Perhaps it's just scratching off the finish.
Does your safety lever have a bit of side-to-side play?

when my safety is on there is no movement at all.
when off there is a tiny bit of movement up and down.
also....there are no wear marks on the other side of the barrel so the ware marks has to be
from engaging and disengaging the safety as I only do it with my right thumb.........

When engaged, the left lever has a bit of wiggle, and it hits the slide while thumbing it up and down.
I don't notice any wear on the slide, but it's certainly hitting it.
If I press on the lever with my thumb while pushing it up it gets stuck on the slide, and I can't engage it to the safe position.

Strangely, my EDC CSX shows just a bit of wear on the right side of the frame under the safety lever. The safety levers on the CSX are a little flimsy compared to a 1911 or Browning Hi Power in they are fairly long & thin and have a very small area that attaches the lever to the pivoting shaft. My spare CSX has been shot about half as much as my EDC and it shows no wear under the levers at all.

That is strange.
The right side of my CSX E shows no signs of wear and can't be pushed up against the slide.
I guess there's going to be some slop in the tolerances in an under $600 2011(ish) pistol.
Everything else is great. (Trigger, reset, recoil, accuracy, etc.)
I'll run it for a while and see if it gets worse.
The wear doesn't bother me as long as it remains functional.

My CSX's thumb safety looks and operates like dben002. Just under 500 rounds through the pistol.

I just tried pushing in/up simultaneously while engaging the safety. Tried both the left and right levers. Not even close to catching on the slide; works perfectly. Sounds like something's not right on your CSX.

My CSX has the same issue. My thumb pressure is causing it to rub. I took it to a gunsmith when I first noticed it. They checked the safety operation and said there was no issue. I am finding that I now pull the safety up to safe overhanded using thumb and forefinger to eliminate the inward pressure of the single thumb operation. Not the intended use of the a ambidextrous safety.

I do the same as TLFR, mostly because it’s difficult for me to do so with just my thumb.

That said, the safety slides off with no issue with my thumb on command.

Been really pleased with it thus far

The left side of my 2 year old 1.0 CSX shows a rub mark, but no wear thru the finish. the right side is warn thru the finish. Doesn't matter to me. It is just a tool, to protect my life.

I've started using two fingers to lift the lever as well.
It works reliable when swiping down with my thumb and has a solid "click".
The finish on the frame seems to scratch easily but that doesn't bother me.
As @Indynick says, it's just a tool.
