I know several of you have these grips on your J frames, and I'm thinking about getting some.

What I would like to know is how they compare in size to the factory rubber ones.

I have CT grips on a couple of other guns and really like them, especially on my HD pistol, but I don't want to increase the size of my 442 as I carry it in my pocket mostly.

Here is an old pair of CT hard rubber grips.. I think they are 105's but I wouldn't swear to it.

I have CT grips on three handguns, including my S&W 637 (the visible hammer, visibly alloy-framed version of the 442). I bought it seven years ago, when the LG305 was the only version available. It provides a comfortable place for my pinky, which the original boot grips did not. The LG105 and LG405 also leave my pinky out in space. The LG105 grip is made of hard plastic, and does not cover the back strap. With these grips you get to deal with the full recoil, which with an Airweight is sobering. The LG405 grips are made of rubber, and not only covers the back strap but also provides a "shock absorber" at the top of the back strap, a very useful feature. If I forget to put a bandaid over the web between my thumb and hand before firing range loads (!!), I will develop (and pop) a blister by the twentieth round.

Crimson Trace provides three separate sets of grips for your Airweight, each for a different need. The LG105 set is the latest of the bunch, and emphasizes cheapness first, then concealability at the expense of pinky involvement. The LG405 set was the second design, and emphasizes recoil control first, then concealability at the expense of pinky involvement. The original LG305 set provides a full grip and a pretty good amount of recoil control. It is also concealable in my slacks pocket in an Uncle Mike holster. To my taste, the LG305 set is "just right".

The LG-105 was the first Crimson Trace grip designed for the J Frame, the LG-305 was the second, and the LG-405 is the latest design. I bought my 305's when they were the "Newest" about 4 years ago. The 405's have only been on the market a couple of years. The 105's are a hard polymer that offer little cushion for recoil.

The lack of "cushion" with the 105's doesn't bother me, it's just like shooting with wood grips.

I bought my 637 and its LG305 grips seven years ago. Otherwise, I agree with his post.

Jack........not trying to start an argument here. I should have said latest instead of "Newest" because when I bought my 305's they had been out for awhile...not sure how long. I actually bought my 642 with the grips installed by S&W soon after S&W began marketing the gun. They have the S&W Logo rather than the CT embossed in the rubber. Crimson Trace uses ascending model numbers for similar grips, the higher numbers being the latest model.

OK guys, nobody is paying attention to the question!!!

I know about the different models and what they look like. I am not concerned about recoil, because it is negligable to me, even with +p rounds.

What I want to know is how do the 105's compare in size to the factory grips, concealability is what I care about.

For pocket carry of my 642 I wish I had the 105's (smallest & slickest), 405's second (more cush for recoil), & last is the 305's (grip is too long, you do not need your pinky on the grip anyway)...I have the 305's on my 642 & would gladly trade them + $40 for 405's or straight across for 105's ;)!

Look at the pics I posted and draw your own conclusions. Two of them show the 105's and two show the factory boot grip, I'm not sure I can illustrate the differences any better than that.

I really appreciate your efforts...Thank You!

I should have paid more attention to you post in the first place!

With your pics, and one more check to the CT website, I figured out what I needed to know...think I'll be ordering the 105's
