Are you sure its a 40VE I know the 40Es were all black and also the SD40s
Me 40E is all black, including the barrel... barrel swap?
jwnic
Did you buy this gun new?
If yes, are you sure it's as new as they said?
If not, I'd say someone had it painted or coated.
It's possible it left the factory black. I doubt it, but if so, that's a mean joke on the rest of us who would like black slides.
If nothing else call S&W.
No, I bought it used (actually traded my 30.06 for it)..
And, to answer my own question!! I have searched for the answer to this for a while now, and always came up with a blank. Then, after posting this, I uncovered this: S&W's Allied Forces SW40VE - Shooting Sports Forum , this: Model SW40VE-Allied Forces - PoliceLink , and this: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-...l-sigma-variants-model-designations-pics.html !!!
So apparently I have an S&W Allied Forces SW40VE! Woot!
Thanks for your input, folks! (And, J Rich, sorry 'bout the mean joke!)lol
Congrats on scoring an AF model. I haven't had the chance to get an up close look at the AF. I'm guessing I was under the impression that they had the AF stamped on the slide.
Enjoy your AF model they are out there, but they are far and few between.
Give S&W a call they should be able to tell if it's an AF or not.
Now you've got me trying to find a close-up picture of an AF model to see if it is in fact stamped on the slide.. So far, no joy.
