Hey all, just curious about the SW40VE.

I have one that is all black (with the exception of the barrel), but EVERY other SW40VE I've seen has a black lower and stainless slide/barrel.

Is there any significance to this?

Did you buy this gun new?

If yes, are you sure it's as new as they said?

If not, I'd say someone had it painted or coated.

It's possible it left the factory black. I doubt it, but if so, that's a mean joke on the rest of us who would like black slides.

If nothing else call S&W.

No, I bought it used (actually traded my 30.06 for it)..

And, to answer my own question!! I have searched for the answer to this for a while now, and always came up with a blank. Then, after posting this, I uncovered this: S&W's Allied Forces SW40VE - Shooting Sports Forum , this: Model SW40VE-Allied Forces - PoliceLink , and this: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-...l-sigma-variants-model-designations-pics.html !!!

So apparently I have an S&W Allied Forces SW40VE! Woot!

Thanks for your input, folks! (And, J Rich, sorry 'bout the mean joke!) lol

Congrats on scoring an AF model. I haven't had the chance to get an up close look at the AF. I'm guessing I was under the impression that they had the AF stamped on the slide.

Enjoy your AF model they are out there, but they are far and few between.

Now you've got me trying to find a close-up picture of an AF model to see if it is in fact stamped on the slide.. So far, no joy.

Give S&W a call they should be able to tell if it's an AF or not.

By the way noticed gunbroker has the sigma 9VE AF for sale says 7 in stock $299

They are just stamped VE go to gunbroker some good close up pics

I have a SW40VE Allied Forcs edition and they are in fact NOT stamped any differently than a standard 40VE. I love the all black look, the fact it blends in with my holster.

My SW9VE AF has no special markings, for what it's worth.

I Had a 9c, Sent it back for work & it came back a 9E.. This is one of the first batches w/o a light rail. New slide & barrel old barrel was stainless new one black melonite. Not a hicup sence '05' ; ) PS Congrats on great gun
