Curious best conceal carry holster for M&P 9? I know its kinda big but its all I have

I just bought an M&P 9 and I'm working on getting CC. I am a father of four girls so i cant just go out and buy compact. Anyone have any good options for a comfortable cc holster for it?

Try the IWB from Paul Giannaula at PJ Holster. His stuff is very well made, and he has very fair prices and reasonable delivery times. He is truly a class act.

My favorite is the Cross Breed Super Tuck. I own several. They are reasonably priced and have a life time guarantee/warranty and are very comfortable. I order the J-clips which make it a very effective tuckable holster.

Cross breed is great for inside the waistband. (old faithful holsters are just as good at half the cost). I'm a giant fan of X-concealment also. Very good product. It's on me 12 hours a day. Comfortable and concealable. Big fan...

I am kinda in the same boat as you, as being an Illinois resident, and hoping we finally get CC soon, I wanted to be pro active and get a jump start on getting an IWB. I have a full size 40, cuz when I bought there was no thought of CC in illinois. But after my research here and elsewhere I ordered up a Crossbreed Supertuck deluxe. I ordered it at Xmas time and still not got the shipping but I knew they are a 4-6 week wait so no biggie. Another selling point for me was, if I find out I can't conceal the FS well enough the holster also fits the 40c. Now other makers may do the same but I was focused on Crossbreed.

I have 6 IWB's that are like the Crossbreed Supertuck (I make my own) and I really like them.

What I have learned making them is that the smallest of changes will greatly change the way the holster feels and carries. While some holsters may look similar, they may feel night and day different.

There's not much chance you will find the right holster without trying several, so I'd recommend starting with the big names (they got big for a reason) and seeing what works for you. Some manufacturers have a free return period which is really helpful.

And remember different guns carry differently. Some guys will tell you XYZ Holsters are the best, but they carry a different gun and have a different body shape. That doesn't do you any good.

Spend the money and get a Comp Tac MTAC.

Alot of cross breed owners love theirs, and I've had similar holsters, but the MTAC has many features the cross breed doesnt. the clips are more discreet, you can adjust the retention manually to your preference, and it is FULLY adjustable on ride height and depth. if i was trying to hide a full size (it is doable) i would personally want a pretty low ride height IWB and strong forward cant. The draw on these holsters is fast and smooth, and stays open for re-holstering.

you CAN interchange the kydex bodies should you change weapons. you can also get a slide kydex body so the FS and compact will both work (should you get a compact down the road).

I have a Foxx Trapp holster for my Kahr CW9 and really like it. Foxx makes a holster similar to the cross breed for $39 shipped. I would upgrade to the low profile kydex clips for sure. His turn around is days, not weeks/months. I REALLY like my foxx trapp.

Hope this helps!

Asking people about holsters is like asking who's going to the superbowl in September. Everyones got a favorite for different reason.
Personally, I dress redneck-ish in Texas so an Armordillo owb and a long tailed shirt does me good. Am I saying it's what you need? No!
Every gun and holster is going to wear and feel different on and to everybody. Decide on your concealment needs and order a fitted holster to your piece from a reputable company. Don't be afraid to spend a little extra if you can. You may find it comfortable, you may not. If not, move on. If its a good quality holster for a popular model like the M&P you'll find selling a used holster aint hard to help recoup some cost.

I have a Crossbreed Super Tuck on order.

I chose horsehide (extra charge) and extra j clips (extra charge)

Total price including shipping: $103.70

It depends. You could wear a belt holster if you wear an outer garment - jacket, vest, or sweater.

You might want an inside waistband holster. I've seen people carry 1911s IWB. Depending on your build and how you dress this could work.

I am carrying a Shield, but I have carried my 9 FS in a belt holster a few times in a Bianchi Serpent while wearing a Blazer with no issues.

Hear me out on this...

If you're a father who is on the move a lot, and be making a lot of short/quick trips, consider the Remora for your pistol. I believe you'd go with a size 11, which is on the .40 model in the video linked below, as well:

Even though it's a big gun, the extra surface area actually makes it more tacky due to more sticky material hugging between your body and belt/clothes. There's a new years discount that makes 'em about $24 with shipping or so. Great for throwing-on and wearing around for short trips, especially.

TNoutdoors9 did a review with his Glock 19 and others, and had good things to say. FF to 6:30 for examples of retention:

I too like the Remora. I use mine when I know I will be going in and out of banks, governement buildings, schools, etc. They are very convenient and work very well. They are very reasonably priced too.

I recently bought a Remora clipless IWB holster for my Glock 23 and for my KelTec PF9. I have been carrying them both for a couple of weeks now with those holsters and I am very impressed. Very comfy and it holds the gun very well.
