Love Mine
I have a 340PD and a 642 . Both are reliable and good to handle .I have been shooting many years. I can hit targets with both at 25 yards no problem .

I have many S&W revolvers, new and old.
I think the new ones need a little more work to get the triggers slick and light but once done they are very nice guns.

There are old and new guns that are highly desirable.
I sincerely hope this thread doesn't deteriorate into the usual "all the old guns are wonderful and flawless and all the new guns are junk."

You may have unwittingly unleashed the "I hate IL/MIM/Two-piece barrel" vs. "they're great" debate.
I have both. To me, it's apples and oranges when it comes to advantages/disadvantages, new/old. Will continue to buy both the old and the new. Don't let negativity turn you away from the new S&Ws, they're fine. YMMV.

At the present time, I do not own a Smith with the IL. However, that is simply because I have been consentrating my efforts in acquiring the older ones. I would have no problem buying a Smith I wanted with the internal lock, in fact I am looking at buying one now.
