I paid $730 for this one (no box) about five years ago. I would be surprised to find one in nice condition for less than $1200 now where I shop. The 5th Edition of the Standard Catalog says $1300 in excellent condition with possible premium for P&R guns. I don't see the 4 and 8 inch P&R 629s sell very often.

The s/n of your Model 629 ND means it was manufactured sometime 1980-1983, and most likely 1981. According to the "SCSW 5th Ed.", the 629 was introduced in 1979, and the 4" barrel appeared in 1981. That pretty much brackets the DOM because the 629-1 was released in 1982. I'm not sure if mahogany presentation cases were common with Model 629s (unless special ordered), so it may have been obtained from another 4" N-frame revolver. If that revolver is in really nice condition with the original target stocks, and with a presentation case, I would think the value would be $1400-$1500.

I had a 4" 629 ND in about 1983- 1984 and it was shipped with a presentation case. I took it back (unfired) to where I bought it due to QC issues and got a 629-1 in return. The 629-1 did not have a presentation case so I kept the one from the ND gun. Still have it and ordered new inserts from a forum member. Looks great

The 629 no dash is a collectors gun since it's the only version to be P&R.
My buddy had one he shot that developed a yoke arm issue, rumour was they had soft yoke arm metal but don't know for sure.
A collectable gun in shooter condition can be a conundrum especially pre endurance package pre lifetime warranty especially if spare parts don't exist.
An unfired NIB example would bring a hefty premium to the right 44 mag collector that needs one to fill out his card.
