This is not an official S&W collectable and therefore probably has no real value to anyone except me. Thought I'd show it off anyway and relate the story that goes along with it, because I'm sure a lot of others have things that they feel the same way about.
In 1981 I purchased my first S&W revolver, a brand new 686, and of course it came in a blue one-piece cardboard box. Money was tight then and I had to save up for quite a while ($300 OTD, ordered by my local gun shop from J&G Sales). I was just getting into S&W's at the time and really admired the wood presentation cases that the 27's, 29's and a few others came in, but of course couldn't afford one. Dad had just retired and was spending a lot of time on his hobby, woodworking, and on Christmas morning of that year I opened up a large, heavy package to find this. Needless to say, I wouldn't have traded it for every factory pesentation box in the world. It sits on my desk to this day.
