I have a nice pair of elk antler (no bark) 1911 grips, cut for magwell and ambi safety that Mr. Grashorn made up for me a few years ago.

I've always been a fan of Sheriff Jim Wilson's writings; one of my earliest memories of reading Shooting Times as a child were his pair of Colt Commanders with the stag grips with his initials in silver.

I took my grips to the jeweler in town. He said it'd be $200 just to have someone in LA to lazer the initals in.

Does that sound right? I'm in a small town so maybe there'd be better deals to at least get the initials lasered in? I'll check at the trophy shop back home next time I'm there.

There are a lot of people using the computer controlled laser engravers. It should not cost $200 to do what you want to do. I recently went to a craft show and saw some of this guy's work. I am only showing the link to illustrate what computer controlled laser engravers can do. I do not know if this guy does grips.

His prices at the show were reasonable.

I am sure that there are others that specialize in grips.

Google it. Here is one: Custom Laser Engraved Gun Grips
