I 've located a cylinder for my M19-5 as the original is badly blemished.Does anyone know where I may get some instructions on removing and replacing it or should I take it to a gunsmith? Thanks.

To physically install a new cylinder a is simple 1 minute task. Just remove the cylinder retaining screw in the side plate and pull yoke forward after opening the cylinder (gently jiggle it out). Reverse procedure to re install.

HOWEVER.............
The likelihood of that cylinder fitting correctly with the correct B/C gap is remote! Not being derogatory here, but if you do not know how to remove a revolver cylinder I would DEFINITELY recommend that you let a Gunsmith do the job.

That's a big +2.

Unlike automatics, almost all critical revolver parts are individually hand fitted at the factory.
Cylinders just don't "drop in" without some fitting and careful gaging and checks.
Just because the cylinder will snap into the frame is absolutely no indication that it really fits.

Among other checks and adjustments, the new cylinder assembly has to be checked for:

Cylinder end shake.
Head space.
Barrel-chamber alignment on all chambers.
Timing on all chambers.
Barrel-cylinder gap.
