Kayaking on the Little Pee Dee river in SC yesterday. This is a cypress tree probably only 20-30 ft. tall but 20 ft. or more circumference at the water. Beautiful river, cypress trees, Spanish moss, gators, and snakes.

I never cease to be impressed by trees. This one is magnificent! My last visit to Louisiana took me to Oak Alley plantation where they have a double row of Live Oaks that are nothing short of spectacular. Giant Sequoia, Bristlecone pine, Cypress, I love 'em all!

I love Cypress. We have a bunch of places with them down here.

Here's a pic from my friends place off of Alligator Ally. It' mostly Cypress and floods a lot. He's a nut.

I'd like to see more pics if you would.

Beautiful. Virgin stands have disappeared from down here except for a few protected areas. I think they can live for a thousand years, great to see some hanging in there battle scars and all.

I love the Low Country.
When I was running boats up and down the Intracoastal, one of my favorite areas was the Waccamaw River from Murrells Inlet to Georgetown.
Southbound, in the fall, I'd head down through the area at daybreak. The water would be dead calm, with just a slight mist rising. Cruising a wide, gently flowing river, surrounded by cypress. Beautiful.
Probably the most relaxing run on the entire ICW.

Think the local Tribes are the only ones permitted to harvest any more. Not quite sure.
Cypress Knee Museum right near Gatorama, both gone. My kind of tourist traps.

I see a prime warmouth hole! The Little Pee Dee is one of the most beautiful black water rivers one can imagine. Been on it many,many times. Redbreast heaven......50 years ago.

There are no cypress here in Minnesota, so my strongest association is the oak and cypress Reelfoot Lake Boats made by the Calhoun Boat Works in Tiptpnville, TN. My kind of boat.

I'd love to fish Reelfoot Lake before I die. Those cypress roots are prime cover for bass and the big cab-over-engine bluegill they have there.
