CZ CraZy

Guys, I’ve seen this a few times in this thread, so I’m going to correct it.

CZ does NOT have a custom shop. They have NEVER had a custom shop. CZ Custom is a completely separate company, much like Cajun Gunworks.

CZ Custom both modifies existing CZ’s and also build their own pistols, such as the A01’s below. Unlike CZ’s pistols, the A01 has a forged frame and is just higher quality all around.

Thanks for the info and I stand corrected. I am still very happy with the CZ Custom PCR I bought.

The Shadow 2 Compact the OP has is a fantastic looking gun. They caught my eye recently and love the looks and reviews. Could be one in my future!!

Have 75 Tactical Long Slide already, it shoots accurately, the Compact would make a good addition. Larry

I know that $475 on top of the original purchase price seems nonsensical. But what Cajun does is truly magic. I didn’t believe the hype until I took the plunge. Like I said earlier, I have about $1100 in all my CZs. But man, they shoot like a million.

And they fit your hand so well. 9Ms don’t recoil much, but the CZs are especially tame. I run Delta Prescision 147s at 1000fps. That’s my CZ load.

Years ago, I ran out of lead. I used to cast my own Lyman 205 SWC, which my 1911 and G3 Smiths loved. But I can’t find lead anymore, and 45 JHPs are kind of costly if you shoot a lot of reloads. And I know it’s silly to buy an $1100 pistol to save $100 on ammo. As much as it pains me to say this: My 9M CZs, any of them, will outshoot any and all of my 45s.

The Cajun work…… one Cajunized CZ is better than 2 mediocre handguns.

It is my understanding that CZ USA saw how much $$$ the custom shop was generating & CZ USA bought them.

Angus Hobdell, CZ Shooting Team captain, retained his position as Custom head honcho.

CZ Custom was known as "Ghost Products" prior to their purchase by CZ USA. This avoided any copyright or trade infringement onto CZ's products & name.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Hobdell at a steel plate match in Cheatham Co, TN many, many years ago. We had a wee bit of a steel plate match where he would give each shooter his critique on what he thought about their shooting. He was kind enough to tell me I had a nice fast, smooth draw. :D

Then the club's top shooter went against Mr. Hobdell in a falling plate match. Club shooter used an Open Class 2011, Mr. Hobdell used a CZ with iron sights. Mr. Hobdell smoked him, easily. :D

I purchased my first CZ pistol shortly after that & have bought many since then.

As much as a love my Beretta's, Sig's, H&K's, etc & as accurate as they are, the CZ Custom guns put them to shame.

I haven't done a head-to-head, but I'd bet the only guns I own that can even keep up is my Baer & Nighthawk 1911s. Either of those brands cost lots more than my CZs.

All of my test targets are simply one ragged hole. ;)

Well I don't own a full CZ pistol, however I do own a factory half CZ pistol. I know you guys are thinking what the heck? Colt Z 40.

No, that’s all CZ. Colt just sold them.

I have had a 75SA that I should have kept but I do own a P-01 Omega with the Pro Package from CGW. I had wanted to try a DA/SA. My thought was that it would be very safe for AIWB with the exposed hammer that you could cover while holstering for increased safety. I love the little guy but almost never carry it. Not in love with DA/SA. Cajun's Pro Package is amazing. I have found that CZ's have wonderful ergo's.

I have an 85 Combat that I bought a few years ago from CZ Custom, and had them perform a trigger job and put in a whoop-te-do hammer before shipping the new gun to me. The 85 C has ambidextrous controls, adjustable rear sight, and no hammer block. It is a wonderfully accurate and reliable gun. For me it's just a range gun, the single-action trigger is too light for defensive use (I'm no John Wick), and if I wanted to carry it with the first shot in double action, I'd have to lower the hammer on a loaded round - no bueno.

I think I could have a CZ decocker mechanism put it, but I don't want to mess up that trigger, and I have a pluperfect plentitude of parabellum pistols for defensive use anyhoo.

I've thought about selling it a few times, but then I shoot it first and back to the safe it goes.
