Dad, the accountant and car guy

My cousin had a purple gremlin with the V-8 not sure which, but he had air shocks on it and wide rear tires and cragars and a Tasmanian Devil with hood scoops. Looked pretty slick and was quick too.

That was a big problem with American motors, the availability of speed equipment. Working PT at my buddies speedshop/garage that was easy to see.

We did have one fellow that had a pretty fast Kelvinator as he called it. We called him Rambler Roy.:D

Dad always drove inexpensive basic model cars as he supported a family of five and preferred that mom didn't join the workforce.

This is dad's 225 slant 6 chick magnet that I learned to drive on.

My mom had nice cars, my dad had a car that would get him back and forth to work, hunting, and to the fishing lake.

I bet you can guess who's car I got to drive. This picture is close, but dad's had large holes in the rear quarters, and I used a street sign in the rear right floorboard to keep people from falling out.

Not a single friend ever complained about cruising around in that baby blue rusty 1960 Chevy. Sad thing is, I didn't get my license till around 1974.

There were four kids in our family. We either ran big boat type Chevy wagons or VW bugs.

I learned to drive in my father's '63 Tempest very similar to the one below. Yes, it had independent rear suspension, a flexible cable for a drive shaft, and a 4-cylinder engine that was one bank of a 389ci V-8. A unique car for sure.
