Dead Thread

lower aorta aneurysm, 2 stints in RCA, and now they tell me I have COPD, and if I catch pneumonia it could kill me ..

get as much exercise as you can it will keep your strength up, see another doctor, and never give up !!

Tell your love ones you love them more now then ever! they will be your strength in the coming years !

They gave me three years for my cancer. I'm still here at five. Don't expect to be here at ten. Mind you things are neither staying the same nor getting better, so getting things that need to be done accomplished take increasing effort and priority, but a good attitude will serve you well.

According to the physicians assistant there may be some movement or even a third diagnosis. My rheumatoid doctor seems to think I may have have rheumatoid lung. Not a much better result though.

Please, although I am sure everyone means well,
Please don't fill my box with PMs. Thank You!

Three years ago I was diagnosed with ALS. After going to a second and third neurologist, I was rediagnosed with Multifocal Motor Neuropathy. That means I may be as bad as I'll get and that I'll live a normal lifespan and not die a horrible lingering death in a couple of years. There's no cure or treatment other than a positive attitude and keeping myself healthy.
Don't give up. Keep hope alive.
My thoughts and well wishes are with you.
Rare and incurable conditions are difficult to diagnose. My condition affects 1 in 100,000 people but they finally tracked it down.

Please, although I am sure everyone means well, I'd feel neglegent by not answering.

Even if I am not taken, being bed bound and bed pan bound is not a place I want to be.home care may be on option until the inevitable end. Hospital stay is painful.

Ron,The fact that you are thinking more about your wife's security than your own well being is a true sign of your strength and character.I'm sorry I can't offer any words of wisdom in your situation.

While I can't help you cheat death I can show you how to at least make him mad...

Right now I'm in Afib and waiting for meds to kick in.
I've got a nurse here who is very knowledgable and is willing to take the time to explain things to me!
The docs have got to make a decision on what the culprit is!
The respiratory people are trying to wean me from hi flow oxygen back to a level to where I can go home. Not currently possible according to the docs.:o:):eek::eek::eek::D:o:rolleyes::confused::(:(:p

Prayers from Texas that correct diagnosis will be found. I would like to bottle your spirit and share it with a few folks I know. Know we stand with you even from a great distance.

Ron, any way of getting to a 3rd doctor? I'm not terribly comfy with MDs who can't decide whether it is a fungus or bacteria. If I heard something like this, I might head for the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Duke Univ M.C., or other of the top hospitals specializing in pulmonology. Perhaps you already have, but this indecision on their part strikes me wrong.

I also suffer from lung problems and received a terminal diagnosis 11 years ago. I'm still chugging along. Please go to someone else to get this diagnosis cleared up.

Ron, I'm so sorry to hear this news. You, and you're family are in my prayers.

Kaaskop's post is in line with what I was thinking. It's great that you have two opinions, but, you may need to do so some real work at finding a doctor, or hospital that can help you with your specific ailment. Doctors are wonderful, but each one of them is not all-knowing, and some of them may not even know enough...

Check out the the hospitals listed above. I'd also include Mass General in Boston and UCLA Medical Center. Cleveland Clinic, Duke, and Mayo are also excellent sources. By really digging in, and asking for help, you may indeed run across something that can change your lot for the better. These types of hospitals have doctors and researchers that are actively engaging with other doctors and researchers across the country, and the world. Find a doctor that truly takes an interest in you, and is committed to helping you. It will take a lot of legwork on your part, but there is hope out there.

Hang in there, and please let us know how you're doing...

Ron, keep up the spirit!

I lost my father a week ago, taken by a very sudden condition, with about a week of warning. I lost my wife five years ago, also to a sudden heart failure at little over 50 years old. Oh the pain...

These losses have made me understand the inevitability of the passing of time and getting old, and accepting the fact that we all die eventually to make room for another generation. It is painful but you need to make peace with the fact and help your loved ones accept it, too.

I wish you enjoy whatever time you still have, be it months or years, and that you manage to leave your family in a state you are comfortable with and with warm, beautiful memories.

Ron, you haven't said where you are going for treatment, but here in Missouri we have many great hospitals ... getting a new set of eyes looking at your case might be in order.......sometimes it helps to get into a whole new system........especially if they haven't figured out what is wrong yet........

there are some mighty fine docs at Barns hospital in the St Louis area... and in the middle of the state the same goes for the University of Missouri Health System (the University of Missouri Medical Center)and Boone County Hospital in Columbia... and on the western side of Missouri in the Kansas City area, Research Hospital, North Kansas City Hospital, and KU Med Center, and lastly St. Luke's Hospital, while it is a great hospital filled with the finest docs and nurses...it's in the inner city of Kansas City, you'll need at least a pistol and heavy weapons might not be a bad idea, if they let you carry them....I'd check before I let anyone get me an appointment there....I had a discectomy and fusion done there in March of 2000... the nursing staff became frantic when I slipped outside to smoke a cigarette in my wheel chair the day after surgery.......and the neighborhood hasn't improved any...........I made sure that security guards walked my lady back to the car every day I was there.......

Hey Ron, I may have missed it but, will you still be able to do some shooting?
