First post here. A couple of weeks ago I picked up an M&P 15-22 as a Christmas gift for the wife. I've been reading recommendations on scopes, and watching the internet for bargains. Last night on Amazon I found a great deal on the UTG 4-16X44 Compact Scope:

[ame="https://www.amazon.com/UTG-4-16X44-Compact-36-color-Mil-dot/dp/B00KE2VY5E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1480940439&sr=8-2&keywords=utg+4-16x44"]Amazon.com : UTG 4-16X44 30mm Compact Scope, AO, 36-color Mil-dot, Rings : Sports & Outdoors[/ame]

Regular Amazon price $131, with a $30 discount on buying this particular scope, and then an additional $20 discount for buying a UTG product costing >$100. Final cost was $81.
I'm aware of the limitations of this scope, but it's a decent first time scope and you'll never beat the price.

And, thanks to you guys who take the time to post here. Great source of info, especially for someone with limited rifle knowledge like me.

Given what little recoil you'll get out of the .22LR I don't think you'll have any problems with the UTG scope at all unless it came out of the factory with a defect.

Good luck!

Could try this one too. I went with this over the UTG.

Where did you get the $30 discount? I didn't get that when I added it to the cart, just the $20 one for the UTG product

It's still there - scroll down to "Special Offers and Product Promotions".
When I checked out, both the $20 & $30 discount were applied. Plus, now the price has dropped to $125.99, so even better deal.

Mine arrived today. Gonna mount it tomorrow and check it out.

Dropped to $81.12 for me with tax and free standard shipping. Gets tempting, laugh. Trying to save for a nice scope for my Armalite Eagle 15

I bought one of those cheap ($48) scopes off E-Bay for my M&P 15-22. Its been great. Theres no recoil so figured I'd give it a try. No regrets.

I have a couple of these. Use them on a bolt action 22. Really good for the money. Much better than normal cheap scopes

Glad to hear someone with some experience with them For the price I couldn't turn it down....although now the Vortec is on sale

The AR Platform itself has soo little recoil, my M&P 15T 5.56/.223 AR-15 doesn't seem to have any more recoil (felt) than my M&P 15-22 .22lr..

I put a Leupold VX-1 scope on my M&P 15-22, which is WAY overkill. But It was on sale and it has awesome clarity. What I've personally found with scopes, cheap to expensive.. Even a lot of the cheap ones are accurate (on a rifle that doesn't have much recoil, like an AR), but the difference in clarity is night and day.

I really liked the Cabelas brand, however now they have a sale on the Vortex Crossfire. A 3x9x50 on sale for $99.99 (from $169.99). The no questions asked warranty, as well as the name and optical quality, may be worth the $40 more. (FYI, this is for my AR15 not for my 15-22)

Yea, I saw this deal yesterday in Cabelas sale flyer. Now I'm seriously considering returning the UTG scope to Amazon and getting the Vortex. Not only better quality and warranty, but more appropriate magnification for a .22 rifle.

I went to my local Cabelas today and they were sold out. The guy said they get shipment about 3 times a week and the sale goes through the 24th
