Dealing with gunbroker.com ????

I have bought and sold many guns on Gun Broker and all the deals have been great in both directions. When I sell I give an accurate description and I post lots of high quality pictures. I also answer any question as quickly as it is received. When I buy I look at the sellers ratings, read the description completely, look at the pictures and then ask any questions I want answers to before I place a bid. I also only bid on items that have at least a 3 day non firing inspection period.

I'm not saying you can't end up in a bad deal but my many deals probably over 50 have all gone well.

I have bought and sold many times on GB and have never had a problem. Look for good, clear photos and ask any questions you may have prior to bidding, if possible. I expect a return policy for a used gun, but new guns rarely come with a return policy. If there is an issue with the new gun, you most likely will need to contact the manufacturer. I have never needed to do so.
Avoid auctions with poor quality photos, no photos, or uncommunicative sellers. Most importantly, review their feedback and read any negatives to see if it is really their fault.

I have had mostly good. A couple were not so good. I would say do not deal with folks that have neg. feedback for the most part. There can be exceptions but usually that is a strong warning for me. I have dealt with people who have many, many, transactions and not one neg. Those are guys I like to deal with.

Make sure you have inspection and return privileges. Even with lots of pix and buying from a reputable dealer, there is no substitute for a personal appraisal. There are occasional unforeseen bumps in the road. I have bought two guns on GB (from licensed dealers with good feedback) in the last year that turned out to be stolen and I surrendered to the local authorities. I have been reimbursed for one of them--still out on the other one (six months and counting).

I like GB and have purchased from there a few times. The best source of information is the feedback from previous buyers.

Armslist? Not so much. No feed back and no information about the seller. You send your money and take your chances. sometimes the gun never shows up and the seller disappears.

Buying new, current guns online will become more difficult, and I have to agree with the local dealers on this.More and more want a premium on the transfer fee on guns that they could be retailing themselves(Instead of 25-50 bucks, they'll want 100).Often,they are not given a chance to sell something that they have access to,and are expected to do the transfer in from a non storefront dealer, that operates on different volume and overhead. That doesn't pay the staff or the rent.

How did it come to light that the guns were stolen? Did you uncover this info, or were you contacted by someone else about them?

I have had Good Luck on Gunbroker Purchased 2 in the Last Year a Super Nice 3913 that had only been listed for a few minutes with a $349 Buy It Now & a New T/C Black Powder Rifle with a Low Buy It Now,Like eBay it pays to Check the sellers prior feedback.

3 Day non firing inspection.....Period.

One of the most important things is for the buyer to be familiar with what he is buying.DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST.Every gun that I've sold, dozens in fact, was exactly as I said it was,in fact, most buyers found them better than described.
I did encounter one buyer however, who due to buyer's remorse,or mostly likely ignorance of what he was buying,(all this after he begged for a better price, and was accommodated)wanted to return a rifle. No issue that it wasn't precisely as described condition wise-for some reason he thought that the model weighed 5.5 pounds, and it was actually a 7.25 pounder(This fact easily learned in various ways).Anyway, too heavy for him to carry,he thought, and he wanted to return it,with me absorbing all shipping, etc.Ignorance is not a valid reason in my book,so he got to keep it.

I just bought my 10th. gun from G.B. I usually buy used. I have never had to send anything back. Never a mechanical issue with any gun, only minor cosmetic. Have bought from GunsAmerica also. Like mentioned above, the things that I want are not available in my area. Ask seller questions, also mentioned. No Gimmee that everything will be perfect. But will it be at the L.G.Shop, or show. Completely different topic but all I have to say to that is BULL HOOEY.

I've bought a hand full of guns on GB. Everything posted is great advice. I try to call and talk to the person. I can usually get a real good feel for the person by asking questions and listening to their answers. I am trying to determine of they actually have the gun and if they seem real. Haven't been stung yet (knock on wood). I don't send money if I can't get a hold of the seller. If they won't answer my calls before they have my money there's a better chance than zero they won't answer once they have my money.

I would only buy from a dealer with a lot of sales and rated A+ by the customers.

I've got some of my best deals from low to no feedback sellers with low information, poor picture listings who I've contacted for further information and pictures. I was able to confirm the condition and sneak in a bid without competition. Lately however with prices skyrocketing it seems like a lot more people are willing to take a chance on any auction with a lower price and bid it way up no matter how sparse the information or how sketchy the lister.

I have bought and sold a couple hundred times. So much unobtainium is available, you have to be a mild risk taker to get what you're looking for. Had a little trouble but not much. One caveat...Gunbroker will do nothing to protect you either end and the authorities will not either. You are on your own. Still worth it to a savvy buyer or seller.
