Lots of sadness and pain in the world

Local gun shop and indoor range does not allow person who shows up alone to rent a gun

Hate to say it, but if someone is determined to take his/her life they are gonna find a way to do it. Renting a gun is a LOT cheaper than buying one if you already do not own one. Gut and knee jerk reactions all aside-this is just a case of a poor distraught individual. No different than someone parking their car in the middle if the Mississippi River bridge and taking a header. Sad part of life-very sad indeed

Happened at my favorite LGS several years ago. Not a rented gun. Owner still bothered by it. Very unfortunate for all. If the hoplophobes would just realize that what we have in this country is a mental health problem, not a gun problem, and focus their efforts on solving that problem, we’d be much better off . . .

This happened at least 3 times when I was shooting at the SGC regularly. It's rough on the staff and other shooters but if the victim gave a hoot they wouldn't do it in the first place. As an aside: I've always been surprised that gun rental places aren't required to do a background check before handing a gun over to someone unknown to them.

this was the reason that all of a sudden guns at Cabela's and Bass Pro had triggers locks on all guns. the lock wouldn't be removed until you got ready to leave the store

Only positive spin on this is that the person didn't shoot someone else instead of himself.
Sorry that some people just can't say .... it and move on in life. I guess the thread finally broke after to much was hanging from it. Such a shame.
A friend of mine called a suicide prevention line and he was immediately put on hold. That was actually good because he had to laugh about it. When they came on the line they asked what is that music they heard in the background. He said Tammy Wynette and they said shut that off right now. He should have spun the record backwards. When things get to out of hand I just laugh if possible. Sometimes it's better to walk away laughing than to cry about it. Warp 9 humor sometimes does have its benefits.

"A permanent solution to a temporary problem" and a selfish thing to do to those who remain behind.

People on the edge do not think in a normal rational sense.... despite how they appear to the untrained.
Some want to punish and some do not want to be a burden to others.

Mental health professionals often retire early, and the fresh air on the ocean helps restore their sanity.

Trauma surgeons just want to filet fish for a couple of weeks/month, and love the action in the ER.

Doctors are the poorest of the boat owners I’ve met.

“I just need three bullets with that gun” said the shaky man in Tamiami some decades ago.

Same thing happened at our local range. I think he lived. Very sad commentary on our current society. No way to stop someone who has had enough pain and anguish to do this.

So, the distraught customer shoots himself in the parking lot?

I think their policy was to prevent robberies. I guess they figure if the customer doesn't get the gun operable until they leave, they won't immediately return to rob. By then, they have his ID on record.

What if,, Who knew?? Why?? Who's fault??What was tormenting him/Her??

I've been through three suicides, and one murder suicide where a mother killed her son and then turned the gun on herself... all at the gun range..

NO ANSWERS

We're done .... prayers for ALL involved.
