Are you being sarcastic
Absolutely not. My response was to the OP, not you.

Are you being sarcastic
Absolutely! I don't know how many times I've told friends who are actually far more handy than I not to use WD40 as a lubricating oil. It's a penetrating oil, like Kroil, but not as efficient as Kroil. It loses any lubricity it has after a few days.
In his defense, I imagine all of us have pushed something to the side and came back later to find rust or cob webs and realized that we had neglected it. Life happens. Sometimes it isn't that we don't care, we just got distracted and forgot about it. Then when we realize it, we procrastinate because it seems like a big chore to get back in working order.
I will agree, there is no good excuse for leaving outside in the elements though..
Rosewood
Agree but no reason to replace it with new
A little elbow grease when it is needed and he still has a good press
Have you spoken with Dillon Precision? They have a very reasonable flat rate to rebuild their presses. My 550 came back working better than new.
Why would the son, all of a sudden, appreciate something that he has let rust for many years? If the son develops an interest in using it, he has many options to get it running. He is an adult after all.
Actually...If it were me. I would remove the machine and take it home. Get it working again and then sell it. Of course, I AM a little hard-nosed...or some other body part
Thee and me Brother, thee an' me.
I stopped "gifting" my older son anything of value years ago as he doesn't take care of anything.
My younger son still uses the pocketknife I gave him 25 years ago.
I raised them the same, but they sure have different values.

Back to the press, would this not also be covered by the lifetime no bs warranty? Or has Dillon discontinued that?
Dillon undoubtedly would restore this press, but for what purpose? The son likely would just set it outside to deteriorate again. Maybe the son has pressure from the wife to "keep that junk out of the house".Back to the press, would this not also be covered by the lifetime no bs warranty? Or has Dillon discontinued that?
LGS regularly sees young people bringing in a gun or three. Generally their first statement is something like "I just inherited this, what can you give me for it?"
Might be why the family heirlooms are in my safe.
These things might not matter much to the dead, but still being among them, I can speak for the living that it really pisses us off.
