RECEIVED TWO GREAT BOTTLES OF BOURBON AS A GIFT THIS WEEK - REALLY GOOD ONES TOO!

Originally an Old Fashioned was made with Rye. The first rye I tried a long time ago was Bulleit and I didn't care for it. I have since indulged in several bottles of Templeton Rye 6 year. Good stuff! It is produced in the small Iowa town of Templeton and has a very interesting history. Currently it is only in regional distribution but they are expanding. If it is available in your area, try it!
Woodford Reserve also has a Rye, I recently picked up a half size bottle of it but haven't tried it yet. Same on the Rittenhouse. Haven't tried either cuz I've been under the weather and nothing tastes right so will wait a bit.

That's funny - about the only Bourbon and Rye I don't really care for are Bulleit. To me it tastes a little funky.

I was getting the Woodford Double Oaked at the Class VI on base, but now their price is often higher than Total Wine or other off-base retailers.

The Woodford is good stuff.

I have very simple taste buds. I have tried the high-end bourbons (being here in Kentucky it comes outt'a our faucets) :D I even went the "Scotch" route for a while.

But I have pretty much settled on "rye", and I'm still fine tuning my taste buds. I'm finding out I seem to prefer the mid-range rye over the high-end offerings.

Right now I'm working on plain ole Jim Beam Pre-Prohibition Rye. I don't consider the cost as much as I do the taste and "effect".

Thank the Good Lord we can all choose what we like and enjoy to our hearts content, what ever that may be. :D

Two excellent gifts for sure. Woodford Reserve Double oaked is my go to bourbon. Having said that , the store that I patronize for my bourbon just did a barrel pick of the 12 yr. Small batch Knob Creek and at 100 proof , it's pretty darn good !
