Death Row 67-2

Have not posted in a while, been keeping my head down working. Picked up this cool 67-2 from my local cop shop that is a regional Glock distributer. They got a very few of these in trade from Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville and it is marked as such. This was a death row gun. Supposedly the C.O.'s carried them but only qualified with the Model 10. Looks like the front of the cylinder either has been aggressively cleaned by an armorer or its unfired. Our armorers don't give that kind of attention. Thoughts?

It has been aggressively cleaned as all S&Ws show discoloration around at least 3 chambers from test firing. A Birchwood-Casey Lead-Away cloth will easily polish the front of the cylinder to look like that.

Definitely not unfired. I'd say it's been heavily scrubbed.

Buy the gun not the B.$. story.

It was really aggressively cleaned by the people who sold it to you. I like LEO marked revolvers and they tend to be a good deal. Thanks for sharing.

Is the bore unleaded & in good shape?

If so, yes, it's a decent deal, IMO. It's neither a steal nor did you overpay. Sometimes that's how a deal falls.

The SS K-frames by & large are very accurate guns. I bet you'll be happy with it.

For the record, I've taken one of my SS guns to the wire wheel on my bench grinder for a clean-up. Doing it lightly doesn't hurt it any, IMO.

You can see the 'powder mark' on the top strap behind the barrel, indicative of being fired....i guess they missed that in the 'aggressive cleanup'!
IMO $500 is an OK price...does it 'feel tight'?

IMO $500 is a good price. It's not collector pretty but, take that one and any new Smith revolver to the range and you'll think it's worth $1000.
