It's been a month now and I still can't get my hands on some ammo. I thought I'd wait it out so I put some goodies on it and have it all set up how I want it. But, I can't even take it out! I didn't expect things to be this bad! I'm gonna think about it today, and maybe throw er up for sale later! Thanks to every one on this forum for all your knowledge and help!

Yes, it can be frustrating... especially of you don't have the time to jump on ammo as it becomes available for just minutes at a time. I do know the ammo is available at online auctions & gun shows, however it is rather expensive. But the way I see it, if you are desperate and that is your only option, then that is what you do. This will not last forever & the 22 will once again be a cheap round to shoot. All this is relative, because even if you buy it at 3 times normal price, that is still a fraction of the cost to shoot an AR.

But if you do decide to get rid of the gun, I'll give you $100 for that worthless piece of junk. :D

Unfortunately, there really isn't a cheaper alternative. That has always been the 15-22's selling point. I'd still rather pay $.20/rd gouge prices than $1+/rd for a real AR.

Just relax this will pass just like the gas crisis did. Eventually things will return back to normal

Redneck Jim, you didn't go to the infamous Columbus gun buy back over the weekend? I head it was a raving success at making our streets safer...

Anyway, your $100 comment sparked my curiosity.

So true. I just paid .75/round for 1000 .223... and I thought I did good on that. Makes 20 cent 22lr sound not so bad. Same basic gun, same bang when I pull the trigger, same grin on my face. I just love the 15-22.

You would never catch me at a buy back. Actually didn't even know about it until I Googled it just now.

Me at a gun buy back will happen when my wife starts giving away her shoes. :D

What part of the country are you located in? I'm in central Pennsylvania, and there has been a fairly steady supply of Blazer Bulk, CCI Standard Velocity Bulk, and CCI Tactical Bulk, as well as 100 round boxes of Winchester SuperX Hi Velocity and Federal Game Shok and 50 round boxes of CCI Velocitors, at the local gun shops I regularly visit. The big box stores like Wal-Mart, Gander Mountain, and Bass Pro have not had as good a selection or as good prices. I've been able to easily purchase over 2,000 rounds since the first of the year.

Going from memory, Blazer 500 - $26, CCI Standard 500 - $22, CCi Tactical 375 - $25

If you local gun shops have a mailing list (email), I suggest that you get connected.

Then again, if you are really serious, I'll bid $102 just to get another one for my son (so I don't have to share).

I wouldn't sell due to the current ammo shortage. 6 months from now when it's on the shelves and back to reasonable prices, you'll be kicking yourself.

Overreact much?

I understand your frustration. But unless you have 6 months or less to live, I'd wait it out.

I wonder what they would do if you went there to buy guns. A fist full of cash and offer a few bucks more than the buy back pays. lol

Why sell it? I doubt you will find something else that is cheaper or as good and fun as a 15-22 to shoot. Unless you need the money for something else I say take the time to buy a Bushnell TRS-25, UTG .83 riser, some Magpul XTM Enhanced Rail Covers, etc. and dress that puppy up. If however you want to shoot now - search and bid accordingly and you can find ammo on GunBroker for a decent price. Considering what your time and gas is worth - 12 to 15 cents a round is not that bad in today's climate.

I love reading some of the ammo posts where the guys that drove to 5 Walmart stores every day for a week finally found ammo after 7 days. You would think they just won the lottery because they paid under 10 cents per round. If they figure in gas and all the hours they spent though, I bet it is no better than sitting on your couch bidding on an auction. What is an hour with your family worth? How about your time? This will all pass - give it time. Enjoy your family and your new rifle. Go spend $60 on 500 rounds and put as smile on your face.

I have her dressed up already! Just don't have the time to sit online and hunt for ammo in stock. I have 2 young children and I can't spend hours online hunting.

Nice.... Go on GunBroker, set up a new account. Once verified search ".22LR Ammunition". Sort by auction time remaining. Locate a couple auctions and bid with 16 minutes left to avoid the 15 minute rule. Sooner or later you will win. I just checked and there are plenty of auctions that end within the next couple hours in the right price point. The best time to win an auction is late at nigh or early morning (especially Sunday).

Sorry but I am really confused. You can go straight to gunbroker.com & purchase all the 22lr you want without wasting time searching... assuming you really want to shoot. Yes, it will cost you around 20 cents/rd but you will be able to shoot.

When I look at all the money you spent dressing up this gun, surely you can afford to buy some ammo. This will get you up & going now, then just wait for the inventory to recover & pricing to fall.

Not to be disrespectful but you remind me of folks that purchase a fancy car but can't afford to put gas in it. IMO, you would have been better to hold off on all the accessories & purchase ammo first.

OK, my bid is now $110. :)

This should help:

Gunbot.net ammo price aggregator. I linked you right to the .22 section.

Hang on to your rifle holmes. The 400 dollar Magpul version I got in 2010 is now going for 600. Even after the panic, prices will probably be 20-30% higher, so if you sell it, you're going to pay more in the end.
