Debating on the sigma...

Sigma's vs. Glock owners

I have owned my Sigma .40 for about 7 months now. When i first got the gun I took it home and cleaned it like any other responsible gun owner would. I took it to the range and shot 250 rounds through it, All the things i had read about the trigger were right on the money. The trigger was very heavy. I figure 12-15 or so lbs. I took it home and did the trigger job and removed the pig tale spring. This took it down to about 10lbs or so. The next day I went to get more rounds for the range and I asked the sales guy about the trigger pull and he reccomended I use a good polymer lube where the tigger assembly meets the polymer. I don't know the name of the piece but its triangular in shape. I put a drop of Tetra Gun lube in that spot, took the gun to the range and Boy what a difference. the pull is taken down to right about 7-8 lbs and its not gritty at all. Just like a Glock.
I have been on other forums and have caught a world of you know what from Glock owners. They all say "Sigmas are a pile, they always misfire, jam, etc." I went on to tell them the gun is internally a Glock, Guess what kind of stuff I stepped in. I persisted to ask these guys if they have ever owned or fired a Sigma and the all were insulted I even asked. Of course they all said "no". I went down to the range yesterday and afterwards I wanted to see about selling another gun, the range master picked up the Sigma with out really looking at it and said "nice piece". I told him "it was not for sale and the Sigma was my favorite gun and it was a great gun". He then proceeded to tell me "ya, sure, when you can get it to work." I asked him if he was a Glock owner. of course he said "yes".
Most Glock owners in general are arragant and can never see past there own nose, so to speak.
The Sigma is a great gun. I have put over 15,000 round through mine, never had a malfunction, jam or any negitive exp. with it. I consistantly knock the bullseye out of targets no matter the distance (up to 50 yrds.). I clean my guns thuroughly everytime I shoot and the sigma is the only gun I have NEVER had a problem with. If you are thinking about buying a Sigma .40 ot 9mm Just go ahead and get it. Do the trigger job, get some good polymer lube, take good care of the gun and you will never have a problem with it. it is a great investment for the money. In CA they are more expensive than anywhere else and you can only get the 10 round mag. but it is a great gun. Don't listen to Glock owners, and you can always tell if they are. Just go out shoot them on the range knowing you paid 1/2 the price for a better gun.

Is the Sigma better than a Glock......Probably not. I am not a fan of the Glock but I do believe they are a good weapon. I don't have many rounds through my Sigma but I will tell you that it is every bit as much fun to shoot at my XD or my 1911's or my Rugers, or my........ The factory trigger sucks and can be fixed in about 10 minutes if you are slow. They will have there occasional issues just like every other pistol out there (even the higher end stuff). I would buy 10 more of the sigma before I ever bought another Glock simply because of there cost and the fact that they fit me better. Don't go to the range thinking that your $275 sigma will out run a $700 sig because the truth of the matter is, it probably won't. I put my little Walther P22 worlds above the Sigma in every way but it doesn't mean the Sigma is junk. Just different pistols in different price ranges.

Other guns

I mispoke about ''better" samdweeze. I am not a Glock fan myself esspecially knowing the attitude and arragance of Glock owners, I would never want to be a part of that mess. I have shot many Glocks and can speak from experience. EVERY glock I have ever shot, I ALWAYS get at least one stove pipe jam. I have shot new and old Glocks alike and still the same end result of a stove pipe. Glock is also the only gun I have ever shot besides my Hi-point C9 I have gotten one. On my C9 which I have had for a couple years now, i have ony had one. I like to buy American made. The only gun I own that is not is a Berreta 9mm which was the first gun I have ever bought, 1995. Oh ya, I also am asshamed to say i own a LLama (don't ever buy this gun, even if its $1 for a never been shot gun) I own Ruger's, S&W's, Mossberg's, Savage, H-Point's, one Colt 1911 and one 1991. I cannot compare a semi auto to a revolver. Revolvers are simple to use, accurate depending on barrel length, and fun to shoot regardless of SA or DA. They say a Glock can fire under water and under sand, well thats just great. I also know how predictable a bullets' tradjectory can be in that sernerio. If someone is more concerned how a gun will perform under water then they have other, more serious issues than what kind of gun they need to get for personal defense or shooting at the range, I suggest a good K-Bar, not a gun that may or may not explode if you pull the trigger under water. The thing that glock has going for it is the lighter trigger pull which has already been mentioned in this thread. However, That may not be ideal if the person holding the gun is a little jumpy. There is a kind of "rule" as far and if your life is in danger in CA, This is the only state i know that has this "rule". 7 Yards (21 feet) if you use the firearm outside of this range in self defense you will go through alot of scrutiny as if you wre defending yourself or not. At this distance it really does not matter if your gun looks cool or has a great reputation. If you miss and your gun stove pipes you are in a world of you know what. So what I meant to say from my own personal experience a Sigma is A LOT BETTER GUN than Glock. Maybe this does have something to do with the heavier trigger pull, the way it was designed, who knows?

Damn that sucks makes me glad I live in Texas got to love the Castle Doctrine.

Big T

Ya, there are some good things to TX dispite what people say. My uncle lived there and so does a family friend. Take the "Trespassers’ will be shot on site" signs with bullet holes in them. LOL
Also the Hog hunting. Which brings me to this question, If TX is so over run with wild pigs, why can't people just go out and shoot them w/o having to get and pay for tags? If I did not have to get tags or a TX hunting license I'd drive out more often. Flying is much easier but is a PITA when it comes to getting a rifle on the plane.

I wouldnt leave Texas for any other state especially CA, waiting period??? I only have to wait in line to buy my firearms. Bullet button just plain stupid! Ten round cap mags what a waste. Hell here in Texas you can own a full auto AK47 and a tiger if you want.

You dont need tags for hogs just a general license shoot as many as you like I have taken countless hogs with my Saiga 308.

AND zoning

the bad thing though is there are no zoning laws either. you can buy a nice little out of the way cottage on a couple acres, a nice quiet place for you and the mrs. to get away. a month later there can be an amusment park on the property next to yours. HA!
The good thing about no zoning laws though is no one can say that your house can't be 10'Lx10'Wx200'H and fluoresent pink with a giant neaon sign that flashes "welcome to France". LOL

What! There is absolutely nothing wrong with texas! I know about six or seven FAMILIES that moved from california because of there socialist ways... Just keep that gangster **** out..theres a reason our crime rate is so low

In my worthless opinion the Sigma is a better weapon than the Glock or M&P series.

To me, the M&P feels like a Sigma trigger that's been softened with a rubber band connecting it to the trigger bar.

Glocks, well, there is a reason the NY1 trigger was created for it.Stock it shoots straight with a light squirt-gun type trigger, but that trigger is much too light without an external safety.

One excellent advantage of the Sigma is that its trigger pull can not ever be used against the shooter in a legal suit or criminal trial in court.Nope, no hair trigger system here your honor. For what its worth, a stiff hard DAO trigger is exactly what new shooters need, as once its mastered lighter trigger pulls are easier to transition to.

The second is that the firearm is accurate, easy to shoot, reliable, and affordable. With all those attributes no wonder the Glock fanboys despise it.If I had to choose between packing a Glock 17 or a modern generation Sigma id pick the S&W hands down.

I agree with Sleeping Ugly. Anyone guilty of importing "the gangster ****" (as Sleeping Ugly so eloquently said) shall be shot on sight!!!

Shot on sight indeed

My point exactly! I've already said I had to pull a .38 out on some very, very very very stupid kid who walked in with a glock in his pants he reached for it and damn near met the casket... I remember when I was a kid we used to beat up kids who acted like that its so stupid go join the army or something

And when I mean almost...i mean when I eased off that trigger it was nearly at the snap... If I would've been just a **** hair harder on that thing his mama wouldnt have been so happy with my decision

Hello every body I'm new to the forum and I wanna get some advice about the sigma (preferably nine) I like it .. Definitely dig the price.. They say its a glock clone so id like to know about that to... I understand the trigger should be comparable to a smith .380 I used to own... So tell me yas thoughts :)

Buy the SD9/40 instead for a few extra bucks!

Yes, we need to get each one of those gangster whatever they think they are. and just kick the snot out of each one. If you were to through them in the Corps for an 8 year hitch they might actually learn to hold the gun right and use it properly. I dought they would learn any respect though, some of them just don't get it. If one of their buddies get the double tap, then they want the law to do something, when they do it to someone else they spit on LE. Come to think of it, thosew hogs down in TX eat anything right? strip all those "gangsters down to nut'n and put'em in a pit w/ some angry hogs, don't waste perfectly good ammo on 'em.
