Deciding whether to help .... or NOT !

Now that is down right funny. I see younger guys all the time wearing their caps on backwards & wonder about their intelligence. In the military they would suffer their mistakes.

There are places where the backward ballcap makes sense. If you're over 5'5" moving briskly through a ship you really need to see above your head. I can tell you that in a skull vs steel contest the steel always wins.

Easy explanation for that way of wearing a hat. The subject shown does not know how to adjust the size so he puts it over his ears to fill out the gap.:D:)

Had I worn my hat like that while serving overseas, I would still have the top of my ear that was cut off due to melanoma.

Silly me. Here and I thought it was baseball catchers, at the turn of the century. And not the most recent one . . .

Maybe, but when was baseball ever cool? :D

We could blame J.D. Salinger. To quote Holden from "Catcher in the Rye" (1951):

"It was a red hunting hat, with one of those very, very long peaks. … The way I wore it, I swung the old peak way around to the back — very corny, I'll admit but I liked it that way, I looked good in it that way."

Manners are what separate us from the animals two legged or four
I say please and thank you , I hold doors for people and I am polite to strangers
I remember how people would react to my father taking off his hat in restaurants , or holding a door for a stranger . I felt very proud that he was my dad and have always tried to be like him
Other times I drink ,swear and head butt people . Lol
But as long as we're trying it's all good ,right ?

Well, good ole Gen. Abrams didn't like boonie hats, thought they were not military looking so they were banned for wear while on duty in Vietnam. Wonder how many got some sort of cancer from wearing the dumb ball caps?
Humm, respect and manners……..best quit before something happens…

People not understanding that the brim of their baseball hat is intended to be worn forwards to keep the sun out of their eyes is always good for a laugh, and every baseball game I'm at I'll give a chuckle towards the dude with a backwards cap and his hand blocking the sun.

People complaining about backwards caps (in general, it's funny when they put a hand up for sun as mentioned), or complaining about hats being worn indoors are just as worthy of a laugh IMO. It's a hat, maybe someone likes the way it looks, maybe they're concerned about showing a bald spot, maybe their hair is just gross and shaggy after a long day outside. It doesn't impact anyone but the wearer. Just another way for people to look down on each other I guess.

Yup. 6'5" tall and was on a Spruance class destroyer. Got to be on a first name basis with a couple of valves in the P Way

There are exceptions for the ball cap, but if your hat doesn't look like this, I'm sorry, you have no class. lol

Unless it's summer and you've switched to a Panama.

I dimly recall that if you're wearing a ball cap with gang associations, where the brim is indicates what set or clique of said gang you belong to. Since brotherhood isn't a real strong concept in those circles, brim forward is probably safer. Changing hats is safest.

Yes, Panama's are totally acceptable.
