I think I got lucky and stumbled upon a nice pickup. Model 25-9 in .45LC, 8 3/8 inch barrel, blued in excellent condition complete w/ original box, wax paper, tools (still in bag), manuals, paperwork, etc..

The codes on the box label read as follows. Hopefully I have interpreted these correctly.

Stock:
TS - target stock

Features:
TT - target trigger
TH - target hammer
RR - red ramp
WO - white outline rear sight

There is a Spec. Ord code of 0176 on the label as well. Is there a way to determine what, if anything, this code means?

Same question for the Product Code of 100906.

Thanks in advance for any advice or assistance!

hello 586.
The spec ord # is a Julian Date. That is a date consisting of a year
0=1990 and the days of that year, in your case 176 days into 1990

Read that as June 25th. 1990. This is the day the gun was test fired and labeled and put into inventory.
This is not the ship date , or what we call the born on date.

But it does let you know when the gun was made.

The product code is the product code. All modern guns from Smith and Wesson have them.

My 25-9 8 in. has the same product code ,100906 and my Julian date is 0085, which would be the 85th. day of 1990. March 25th. 1990.

Good luck

So Allen-frame...if my box Spec. Ord. # is 7055.... the date would be 55 days into 2007?

One more question...if I purchased a used weapon and found the un-filed registration card in the box....does that possibly/remotely mean that I could fill-out the card....send it in and be the "original purchaser".
