Any tips or tricks for raising out light to moderate dents in a wood stock? I knew Numrichs price was too good to be true.
PS: I will be stripping the original finish, staining, and tung oil finishing the entire stock as well.

I've used a clothes iron, on high, with a wet cloth, to steam, and raise the dent.

Sand flat later, and finish.

Quite simple, really.

I used the above method to take a pretty good ding out of a prehistoric enfield stock. worked very well indeed.

A soldering iron does a great job, and lets you apply heat and moisture only to the dent and not the surrounding wood. I've used this method several times and have always been quite pleaed at the outcome.

The soldering iron and hot iron will work but make sure you watch it carefully. You can get that dent to bulge out way too far if you are not careful. I'm speaking from experience and it took a lot of sanding to fix my mistake.

That's the way I was taught to do it. Raise the dent above level and sand to contour. FWIW

I apparently left the heat on a little too long and the dent was raised a lot more than it needed to be. Seemed like I sanded that sucker forever. *s*
