know some of you have it , like myself . ordered a book on it from primal health . as a bonus you can access their web site & print off a very large dessert menu plus a pretty long list of meals to make , ingrediants & instructions . WOA ...won't work for me ! i would be in the kitchen many hours a day trying to prepare this complicated ordeal ..... not to mention the purchasing of a whole lot of new food & spices , some of which i honestly never heard of and in my small town probably could not obtain.

the BIG question .... have any of you people used a cook book that is less complicated & just a tad more mainstream that you actually have a fighten chance to accomplish eating a bit more closer to being correct for your health purposes ? or should i just buy a ninga blender & mix my own healthy brew ? !
i am all ears .... thanks

I have yet to find a good cook book for Type 2 diabetics. They are all unrealistically complicated with ingredients that are hard to find or just unappetizing. I just try to make something appetizing using a protein base (fish, chicken, or beef) and cook some kind of veggie. A salad is a must. My favorite is a type of green child stew without potatoes.
As long as you can eliminate sugars and carbs (potatoes, rice, pasta, beans etc) you just use your imagination and have at it. Every night here is kinda like the TV show Chopprd.

I have obtained pretty good results from exercise and eating less of the foods on the don't eat list. Dieting to get /keep your weight down is really a big help for lowering blood sugar numbers. Different Meds work better or worse for some so if yours aren't doing well try a different one.

thanks ...

i will check out the mayo clinic site.
from the comments here , you people sound a lot like me & my life style somewhat .
from what i have read about eliminating some foods that simply will always spike sugar, one would be cutting out around 80-90% of what normally a person would eat . i dont for c me being able to accomplish this goal.
like was mentioned , i cut down on potatoes , use low carb bread & get my fruit & veggies daily . meat is not an every day thing , but that being said , i probably will eat more than the advised amount . as a point , i will have iron skillet butter flied tenderloins this wk end , i plan to eat 2 on low cal bread . and since potatoes are only a once a week thing , will have some skillet fried spuds also.
to complicate things a bit more , my kidney doctor gave me a list of foods to avoid , at least most of the time . some of these foods are related to the formation of kidney stone ( which i have had ) pretty long list that includes most meats ( no more than 6 ounces of meat daily ) wheat germ , bran cereals , whole wheat bread , waxy beans , tomato paste ( read that pizza ! ) potatoes & sweet potatoes , beans & nuts & nut butters and a few other things. i thought some of the mentioned foods were ACTUALLY good for you !
the list that does not form kidney stones is brocoli , dairy products such as cheese & yogurt & pudding ..... thats it ! does not leave much to choose from ! lol
my weight pretty much remains constant within 2-3 lbs , bout 150 . have excersized for years . sprung for a high $ excer bike when my old one gave out .. am on it 4-5 times a week for 30 min per cession . still light lift a bit but after both shoulders having rotators repaired i do not overdue it . i am 69 this last dec. i keep "toned " but may eventually go to rubber cable work outs . have hoisted the weights for YEARS and it may be time to find a less complicated alternative . do not have trouble keeping active & still work part time .
will keep doing what i can to remain on track but i am sure my diet will slip now & then .... i am probably not alone here .
sorry about the long post . it is good to exchange info with other people that are having the same problems !
appreciate all who showed interest !!

you don't use tomato paste to make pizza. the sauce should be
crushed tomatoes garlic n basil.
in making the crust, there are natural sugars in flour, but the yeast eats some of it.
doing without pizza is too hard, so make your own.
it's easy.
processed food always has corn syrup in it but t adds nothing to the taste so cook from scratch.
if you get a yen for any common foods, lemme know.
i'll give you a recipe.

did you know, they add corn syrup to canned chili?
the fact is, your taste buds will be happy with the sugars in onions.
