Your 5" model 27-2 should have a ramp front sight. Like this one.

A 6" will have the big square Patridge like the one posted by Tom.

Skeeter Skelton would agree that you did just fine. I have the same piece, a 5", mahogany, 3 T's purchase new in 1975 (?). Out of my collection of various 'N' frames, in various calibers, with every barrel length from 3" to 10 5/8's, it would probably be one of the last to go.
