Bought an unfired 27-2 at a gun show this weekend. It had the papers and tools, but was in a wood presentation box. Obviously pristine and unused. Wide target trigger, pinned, recessed, not five screws.

bought it to shoot and have fun with. Paid $800. How bad is that?

As others have said on this forum, "You can never pay too much for a gun, just too soon." They just keep going up. That is cheaper than you would have to give for a new one and a much better gun!

Thanks, I feel better. Left the show and went to the range to shoot it...what a gun!

That's not unreasonable in my view. I just saw a couple of similar models on a consignment shelf (both seemingly brand new, one with a wooden box) last week, and both were priced higher than you paid. Enjoy it! Sounds like an enviable catch.

Just use it and enjoy it enough that you get more than your money's worth of fun with it. The more you enjoy it, the better the bargain gets. What else would you spend the money on? Such useless things as food and clothing and etc. would be a waste of good gun money!

I've got two unfired in wood presentation boxes like you describe, a 5" and a 3 1/2. I guarantee that you could not buy either one for $800!

It was a good price.

Well done. It's just over half the list price of a new Model 27, 8 shot.

The "market value" of anything is the amount a buyer is willing to pay. Personally, I would pay as much or more for any of the older guns in excellent shape as I would for the current production. I seldom see any used Smith revelovers around here and I am not sure what was "pricey" even six months ago is not the new reality.

I'd have to say no. I sold this one almost 2 years ago for $1,000.

Unfired...no, you didn't pay too much.

If you're worried about not getting your money back out of it later, go find a 95-98% for a shooter & keep that one unfired.

thanks for all the feedback! Sorry no pix, I am computer "dumb ass", but the pix on of the members sent is exactly the configuration of my gun. Same box, same tools, same gun.

I am going to keep shooting it. don't care about the value later...the grin on my face and the looks from the other shooters at the range is priceless!
