Difference in first and third triggerguards

I recently obtained a Galco ******* rig that was adverised as being for a Model 39/59, and indeed it is marked "SW".

But none of my third gen guns will fit into it far enough for the strap to close.

Which begs the question: Is the third triggerguard just a little longer (meaning it extends farther forward) than the first? I compared some third gen guns with a 52-2 and that's what it looks like to me.

If your 3rd generation guns have the square trigger guard, forget it. They won't fit.
