Hoppe's #9 works fine on nickel-finished guns; just don't soak it. Ballistol may work, too, but I think there are better cleaners.

I have used Break Free CLP on all of my guns for over 50 years now and have never found a good reason to change. I started using it as my PDs armorer in the early 1970s and adopted it for my personal use immediately!
I can't recall seeing a nickel 37 Airweight. If I have, I probably thought it was a nickel Model 36. That's a pretty cool find. I am currently "babysitting" an early 1960s (flat latch) blued Model 37. It was carried a lot by my buddy's father-in-law, so the gun shows some holster wear and some corrosion on the cylinder and barrel exterior. I've shot it once, but it's now disassembled for a deep cleaning and fitting of a new hand (bent hand pin).

"Old" is a matter of perspective. 
Probably from the '70s (barrel pin & second style no-diamond magna).

If you want that thing to look as tho it’s never been fired, Semichrome polish will do that.
On stainless Smiths, you don’t want to polish the whole gun with Semichrome polish because it works a little too well. Semi chrome polish will make a brushed stainless Smiths a little too bright. It will no longer look factory original. But to get the burnt on carbon off the cylinder face ant top strap, it does the job.
The new Colts, which are brighter than the Smiths to start with, you can polish the whole gun with it, and it’ll be ok. .

I do the same, with the microfiber cloth. Rarely need anything other than CLP.
I am digging your Model 37 as well.
