Leaving Wed. morning for my daughters wedding in the Turks and Caicos islands. My camera will be going as a carry on with me on the plane. Is it safe to have the digital camera go thru the x-ray machine or would I be better off just having them hand check it?
Any help from the experienced fliers on the forum would be appreciated.
Also any advice on carrying on prescription drugs. I'm a non insulin dependent diabetic but use an injectable medication for it.

Thanks, Greg

Xrays won't hurt your camera at all.

Meds: make sure things are in their original labeled containers, including your syringes etc. Most airports now have sharps containers in the restrooms so you can dump them there as necessary.

just as an aside....x-ray can damage film...not the calera but film...best carried in something lead lined or declared and visually inspected

If this is Byetta.. no problem at all. carry both the pen and needles + all other supplies with me on the planes.
The plus factor is that Byetta does not have to be refridgerated after the first use anymore..
Good luck..

Thanks for the advice. The biggest concern with the camera is not losing the pics on the CF card. Got the meds packed in their original packaging sounds like I'm gtg.

I just returned from a trip to Barcelona and then Rome. I took 2 film cameras and one digital. Your digital will not be harmed at all by the airport x-rays. Film is another story. I usually have success getting film hand checked but the Security Officers at the Barcelona airport are pricks and refused. They not only ran my film through the x-ray, they left it in there for about 2 minutes while they had an argument with another passenger ahead of me. I have not had it processed yet but i am sure it's toast.
