Dillion 550 lube

Synthetic grease in the grease ports, on the ram, imperial die wax very light on the primer slide.

I have always followed the guidance in the manual and it has worked well for me.

30 wt. motor oil on the main shaft and wheel bearing grease on the pivot pins.

To be totally honest, I am much more diligent about keeping the grease on the pivots after I had one gall. But taking the press apart to resolve the issue was a great learning experience and the best way to lube them.

lubed mine once when it was new 10000 rounds later still have not
done anything to it except clean primer ramp area...

Red grease purchased from dillon in a big seringe for the pivots and synthetic grease for the shaft, although I read on the forum in the last month or so that 10W30 oil was recommended by manufacturer.

Use my 550 a lot, Dillon red grease on the pivots, Breakfree on the shaft. I strip and clean it every 5 - 7000 rds, but I don't use the priming station (prep and prime on my Rockchucker)

Moly paste on the ram(apply it, cycle the press a couple of times and wipe it off, moly sticks around), a dusting of graphite on the primer mech, Dillon grease out of the syringe for the pivot points. Smooth as can be.

White lithium grease on the heavy pivot points and Mobil 1 on the other moving parts. I lube it every 10,000 rounds or so after wiping it all down good to clean it.

Same here - 30 wt motor oil and wheel bearing grease per the manufacturer's instructions.

The Dillon presses can be lubed with White Lithium Grease, but pretty much any general purpose grease will work just fine. This is not a machine that is running at high speed where parts are heating up, and have a lot of high speed wear. Only a few dabs are required and that will last a long time. Just make sure you clean out the old grease and replace with new if you spill powder in the press. Once the grease gets tainted, it becomes an abrasive and will cause wear to the parts. A 6 ounce tube of Lithium Grease will last you a lifetime of reloading.

Great stuff. I use it for my Garands and M-1As too.

A pro shooter once told me that he uses Hornady One Shot on the priming mechanism when it starts to stick. It's a good lube that doesn't contaminate primers. I have been doing this for a while now and it works like a charm.

SBGO [Silver Bullet Gun Oil] on the ram
and in each pivot point with a small syringe
and also a drop on the ball bearing under the shellplate

Now, students, go to the blackboard and write these two sentences 100 times. Then go and sin no more - do it right, OK?

30-weight motor oil on the mainshaft!
A good bearing grease on the joints!

This is straight from Dillon!!! :)

I found that using a chainsaw bar tip plunger greaser works great for the pivot pin holes if you don't have a grease needle.

They don't cost much to buy and come filled with a lifetime supply of synthetic grease.
