Hi all,

I recently bought a Dillon XL-650 reloading machine.
I think that 100 new primers is a very short autonomy for such kind of machine.
Are you aware of any existing tool or mod in order to handle better new primers feeding with this realoding machine model in place of 'sticking' primers one by one manually to reload the primer dispenser?

Thank you.

Hi wheelgun28,

that's exactly what I ment to say, thank you.
I have already the complete kit you have posted (the last 3 links at bottom) but I was not aware of that nice machine (first 2 links at top) ... nice but expensive.

I was also wondering if it is possible to increase the quantity of primers in the primer system from, I think, 100 to maybe 200.

Thanks.

I dont know of any way to increase primer capacity. It seems that it gets unsafe to have more than 100 primers in one place. I guess since the primes can, will and do explode and they will detonate sympathetically you can have a lot of potential.

Most folks get several of the pick up tubes. Fill them, then just add them when they get low. So if you were going to load 800 rounds get eight tubes, fill them first. This way you dont have to stop loading on the press to fill the pick up tube.

I have the primer filler and its fast and nice to use. I still do use the flip tray and tubes from time to time.

You're perfectly right, it is unsafe to have lots of primers all togheter, once one of them is accidentally exploding, all the other would do the same.

I think I will buy extra pickup tubes ...

Thanks again.

Ok, I finally feel qualified to comment. The Dillon primer machine is great, but, (with the newer ones) until you find just the right rheostat setting you will experience flipped primers. If you buy one start with the slowest setting that will get the job done. Sometimes this will require pushing the button twice. Eventually you will find the sweet spot. Small and large primers require different set-ups.
