I would mill the bottom of the sight flat. I would mill a section from the top of the barrel(it's a cast section and a barrel tube) with the length of the sight and to the dept where the width is the same as of the sight. I would drill two holes trough the bottom part of the sight and barrel cast, tapper thread in the barrel, drill the holes larger in the sight, countersink it for screws. Last I would mill clearance for the selector.
I think I can set the front sight quite low in the barrel. The rear sight will get a large home-made blade, hard soldered to the original, milled down, Millett blade.

I like placing good, large sights as well as making other changes in favor of results and looks.

I'll give this a try. I have one on a 6" Mod 29 Classic.

The slot cut in the top-strap measures .410". Would imagine is cut with rounded ends, as the "wheel" is .614" in diameter.

My barrel is magna-ported, just below the sight, this caused a lot of residue to get on the wheel.

The length of the base is 2.202". Width is .490". Height (of base exterior) .221". Width of sight Interior piece (which raises and lowers in the exterior base) is .340".
