I started a thread earlier about spray on gun finishes,

http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-15-22/247558-duracoat-cerakote-gun-kote.html

But now I am thinking about maybe a camo dip (hydrographics). I seen a show on TV about a couple months ago and they showed the professionals doing it and said there is DIY kits that are just as good, but as with any finish it is all in the prep. What I was wondering is it actually as easy as the videos online or YouTube. Has anyone done it themself and with what company did you purchase the kit from. The only thing that really makes me nervous is dipping my scope (BSA Sweet 22) under water then running it under water. All the places that do pro dipping make you sign a waivor for a scope job. So there must be or have been issues with scopes getting wrecked.

Help me decide how to finish my M&P15-22. I think the gun looks ok in black, but think it would really be nice with a colored finish. As of now I am leaning toward duracoat for my 15-22, cerakote for the side on my sigma and a dip for my tactical mossberg shotgun, but I think a dip would be really nice on the 15-22, with all the options that they have for patterns. Soon I just have to make up my mind and "pull the trigger" on a finish.
