Do I keep my XDM10mm, or go for the Smith?

Tough one. You could also wait for Sig to drop their P320 in 10mm later this year, and do a 3 way comparo between the Sig, M&P and your Springfield. Be cautious on letting that FS Springer go, though. It would not be easily replaced.

Dump both and get an EAA Witness by Tanfoglio. It's the most comfortable 10mm I've ever shot (and I've shot most) and is a tack driver. The Defiant 10mm is the same gun, same manufacturer, different milling and a different importer.

Tanfoglio pistols with metal frames (I'm not sure about the ones with a poly frame?) are basically CZ clones. Now that CZ (Custom Shop CZ 97 10mm) actually has their own 10mm the gloves are off! That's a good thing because it will take some extra leather to expand your wallet to encompass the prices!

Actually, a smaller wallet may suffice since yours will be much emptior... Uh, emptyer? Emptier?

More EMPTY! (That's the equivalent of a double-negative, or worse!)

But for the SA/DA and the CZ's quality it may well be worth it?

Cheers!

Which model(s) of Witness do you recommend? I had the least expensive full sized polymer model in 10mm at the time a few years ago, and it was less than reliable.

I have the full size 4.5" bbl (IIRC), all steel with wonder finish. It has always been 100% reliable and accurate to boot. Bought it right after they came out, it was the 1st one I saw for sale at the gun show maybe 15+ years ago. Trigger could use some work, but great gun other than that. I don't like the fact the front sight is part of the slide, so you can't add aftermarket sights on the front without mill work.

Rosewood

I would avoid the Witness and look at the Tanfoglio Elite Match at a minimum in 10mm if you are set on a CZ clone. The Elite Match is a SA but there are other models that are DA/SA.

Not being able to get parts is a maybe. And those guns are probably still being manufactured under the original name for sale somewhere. So your could wait until the maybe happens to buy a new gun.

That said, I love my XDM 9mm. But the trigger is much better on my M&P 2.0 9mm

Are you aware of all the M&P 10mm problems that seem to be popping up?

The only problems I've heard of about the Smith and Wesson 10's, is that they are junk, Smith and Wesson doesn't care, and the magazine falls out every time you pull the trigger.

What's the problem? :D

Seriously folks, anyone even toying with the idea of one of these pieces of junk, should read "Save Ferrous thread", ( in another part of forum) and the many others around the net.

The guns are junk.
