Do you attend minor league ball games?

I might get back there this year. I got my girlfriend somewhat interested in baseball last summer, so maybe if the Iron Pigs are in town we'll go see them.

I just watched your Iron Pigs beat our Gwinnett Braves yesterday afternoon! We would rather watch the G-Braves than their parent club anyday. You also don't have to fight Atlanta traffic!

New Britain ROCK*CATS....Twins AA team. Some great hitters came through New Britain. Two of them have been AL MVP of the Year in Minnesota.

best mascot ? Albuquerque Isotopes. although the LV 51s is a cool name.

when i was a kid late 80s early 90s we used to go to many San Jose Giants ( single A affiliate of the SF Giants) for $5 you got within the first 5 rows. catching a foul ball was easy if they didnt go completely out of the stadium which is a cool 1930s WPA relic. For 3$ you got good seats but not as close. Single A has a lot of 1st and 2nd season pro guys maybe a bonus baby or 2 in tehre but they usually get promoted pretty fast. The players dont have serious attitude and are all young kids. They sign many autographs. The team used to have a "foster" program where they would get local families to let a player live with them during the season and get free tix or something. I begged my folks but hey werent having it. Could you imagine a future major league star that you got to be friends and live with when you were a kid ?

the between inning gimmicks at minor league ball are great as well. like the would get somebody out of the stands and let them start at 2nd base and get the fastest guy on the team and starty him at 1st and have a race to home. or they woudl drive an old beat up car onto the field and a fan would get to try to throw a ball and break a headlight for free dinner etc.

Wuluf - my step-sister- in- law works in marketing for the rivercats. that staium is nice. it was designed to be expanded relatively cheaply if a major league team ever moves to Sac. which the A's should do.

I like AAA teams and we have to Lexington Legends that we go to see. Baseball is always fun to watch. I even like to watch little league teams play. That's the only thing about school I miss is playing baseball.

I've seen a few minor league games, but vastly MOSTLY the Portland Beavers, a AAA club for the SD Padres. They've been with a few different clubs in my baseball years, which go back to the mid to late '60s. Minors can be a great way to stay in touch with the game, and sometimes you can see a star on his way up. (OR down.) Occasionally a star will play some high minors ball on his way back to the big club following injury, and you might see that. Minor leagie ball is also a decent place to try for a foul or HR ball, too, as some games aren't too high in attendance. I regard ML ball as a fine way to spend part of a day or evening.

It has been a couple of years but the Frisco Rough Riders (Texas Rangers AA) has a great little ball park, Dr. Pepper Field. It is further than The Ballpark in Arlington, but I had a really great time there.

Many years ago, we had a single A team in the area. The ballpark was an antique, dating from WWI era. It was a blast. Then they made a movie about it, moved it from single A to triple A, built a new ballpark, and the whole flavor was gone. I believe the term 'bullpen' came from this ballpark as they were known as the Durham Bulls. The original field was great, complete with the Bull on the fence, and the uphill area in right field. New teams always had a fit with that section of the field. Definite home field advantage. When they changed, I quit going. Such a shame, and a great loss of a great field.

Longhair, I moved here the year they closed the D.A.P. and I haven't been there yet. But I really like the Bulls newer stadium, good location, not a bad seat in the house, and VERY family friendly. Wife and I along with a group of friends try and go several time a year, and always enjoy it. They still have the bull in right center field the eyes still light up and smoke comes from its nose when a home run is hit.

Mrs. DeadAye and I finally made it to a Memphis Redbirds (AAA) game.
We really didn't eat much and it still cost over $100 for the evening

We'll try the AA Jax Diamonds (Jackson, TN) next - Everything but the tickets to the Memphis game was way over priced.
$7.50 for a hot dog and $8.50 for a beer --- Just way out of line AFAIC
