Do you have both the 686 4" &6"

I have a 686-4 in 4in that is the usual 6-shot and a 686-4 in 6 in that is a plus model (7-shot). I will keep the 4 in if I have to choose.

I'm indecisive

Because of this Forum, I have 2-1/2", 4", 6", and 8-3/8" barrels on M586 and M686 revolvers. They are just fun to shoot.

The quest started with one in each barrel length either blue or stainless for a set of four. Then I started finding bargains until I tried to buy the M586 with 2-1/2" barrel. That revolver took 6 months but the search ended with success.

Tough question for me. I own 4" and 6" 586s.
The 6" is without a doubt the most accurate .357 I own. I love it!
However, my 4" was sent by its previous owner to a very good gunsmith who turned it into an outstanding combat revolver. I use this gun for IDPA.
I also have a 686 that's been fitted with one of the surplus 5" barrels that Gun Parts Corp sold a few years ago. Over all, I really think this is the best all around barrel length.

Like I said , tough call. But if it came down to it, I'd keep the 4".

I own a 3" CS-1 M, a 586 4 inch, a 581,681, and 686 4", and a 586 6". If I had to try to do it all with one of them, it would be my 586 4". But I am a sucker for blue guns.

I did have a 6" and 4" 686 at the same time. I now have a 4".

I have bigger caliber guns that work better in 6" and above barrels.

Not much else beats my 4" 357 magnums.

I had both until a few months back. My son wanted the 6" and I wanted him to have it. He thought 6" barrels make a target or match grade shooter. I don't have any use for more than 4" barrels and have found a simple truth, it's much more the persons abilities than 2" of barrel. Besides after over 40 years of totting a 4" or less anything more is a burden and uncomfortable.
