How does everyone like to shoot, dominant eye opena and the other closed, or both eyes open? I recently started shooting with both eyes opened and have been pleased with the results after a having shot with just one eye opened pretty much my whole life.

It took a little time to get used to and at first I was finding my focus on the front sight was not immediate, it took a bit of time to clear up, but I've been dry firing exclusively witih both eyes open the last couple of weeks and was pleased with the results when I went to the range yesterday.

An interesting side benefit I noticed was that shooting with both eyes open seems to have fixed a flinching problem I've had since I got my new 629-6.

I shot with both eyes open for years, but as my vision worsens it's easier if I close my weak eye.
I've been fooling around shooting left handed lately with my right eye closed and seem to be more accurate than I am right handed 😮

A subject near and dear to my heart. I have always been and remain to this day right handed and left eye dominant. In Navy boot camp the instructors on the gun range considered me a hopeless loser. Try as they might they could not get me to shoot rifle or pistol with both eyes open.

Later on in FMF school (a slightly shortened version of Marine Corps boot camp for sailors from Navy medical, dental, and chaplain schools) I had 2 different drill instructors that had been friends until they got into a fight over which one was going to get to put a bullet through my head.

I never did learn to shoot with both eyes open. Even my first CHL instructor gave it a whirl but it was a no go. For some reason unbeknownst to me a few years ago I took it upon myself to try and learn to shoot with both eyes open. I have been working on it every time I go to the range. Still not as good at it as I'd like but I'm gettin' there....

Left handed and left eye dominant, shot all my life both eyes open. I learned to ignore what my right eye was seeing actively, but it still works subconsciously to keep bifocal vision.

I believe holographic sights are intended for shooting with both eyes open.

I shoot a shotgun with both eyes opened, and a rifle & handguns with only 1 eye opened. Don't know why but that's the way it is for me.

Left-handed, right-eye dominant, shoot and throw and (LONG ago) batted right-handed. I don't think I started shooting rifles with both eyes open till I tried shooting one that wore a scope. Always shot handguns and shotguns that way, but rifles only the last fifty or sixty years,

I have shot with both eyes open as long as I can remember (now 70). However, I am finding after I had catarac surgery I "lose" the front sight at times. I have found that when this happens, just a blink of the left eye will bring it back in focus instantly. Try it, it works for this old dude.

Both eyes open for handguns and shotguns, right eye open only for rifles. Like arjay, as I'm getting much much older now, I seem to shoot handguns a little better with right eye only open, I'm working on it anyway.

It doesn't matter with me, I am blind in my right eye from a stroke a few years ago. Didn't affect anything except my right eye vision but I do keep both open and I have found out how to never miss your target...shoot first, then whatever you hit was the target!!
