Do You Still Own

Nope...... The first was a very well worn model 28-2 that I traded (along with a bunch of cash) for a 29-2 at the height of the Dirty Harry craze. Still have the bright nickel 29 with 6.5 inch barrel and I'll probably never sell it. I couldn't get my money back out of it even today and it reminds me to not do stupid things. It hasn't been fired in years but I like looking at it and showing it off.

Bye the way....... the 28-2 was replaced with a brand new one that I still have. It doesn't get to be a safe queen either. It's next to me right now and the only time it's unloaded is for reloading and cleaning.

Yes, a 4" Model 28-2 complete with Pachs, gold colored lettering, hand painted rear and front sights. Still looks that way cause it's "original". I've purchased a few HPs since that are better examples....

Yes, In 1958 I bought a S&W model 10 Victory model for $29.95. It is stamped "US PROPERTY" The gun has been reblued and looks brand new. I put a set of new S&W grips on it to really make it look good. I was a freshman in college at the time. Some people would turn their noses at it, but it is special to me. BTW it has a 5 inch barrel and has a V series serial number. That same year, I bought a like new 1911A1 (Ithica) for $39.95. I still have both of them and they are not for sale.

Yes. It's a 25-2 that I bought at the Ft. Worth gun show in 1978. It was ANIB with the display case and all the accessories. I think I paid $325 for it. I knew when I picked it up and pulled the hammer back, it was going home with me.

Had a Model 28, six inch the first year they came out but it got the cylinder blown away by a handloader that didn't know when to stop.
He had filled the case with nine grains of bullseye. He said he thought he was using Unique. Remember the day like it was yesterday. Still have the hand problems to show for it. I never bought handloads from anyone again, but use to reload every day on my own. Never a problem in sixty years, Thank God!

The first S&W I can REMEMBER buying was a nickle finish, 2" K frame. Which I purchased around 1980. I sold it because I didn't like the nickle plating, though now I wish I still had it.

Nope. It was a plain garden variety model 10 4" HB. when the dept issued me one, I sold the one I had and bought a 2" Dick Special. I do still have that.

Sore subject! Actually no. The person that stole it from me does! I have his box, receipt, manual, papers, tools and original Goncolo Alves grips though!! It was the "first" with my own money. M586 6" Blue.

Yes I still have my first S&W - it was also my first handgun. I bought it from a neighbor in 1995 for $200.00

I think it is a 1905 Model Hand Ejector 4th Change

Nope. My first was a four inch Model 28, which I got while I was a freshman in high school, circa 1973. When I was a senior in college my roommate got married and I gave it to him as a wedding present. (It was pretty much my only possession of value, besides my 1971 Olds Cutlass)

So, Steve and Judy Guse, University of Illinois graduates, if you google yourself and see this I'd love to buy that shooter back at a great price to you. My email is in my profile.

And if my ex-mother in law sees this, I want the Cutlass back, too.

Thats funnier than crap. I kept my S&W Model 19 but wish my ex-wife would give my 1970 Buick GS455 Stage I convertable back too.

My first S&W was a 4" Model 10 given to me by my then father-in-law in 1971 or 1972. He also gave me a loader and showed me how to reload. I am deeply indebted to this man, (long dead), for getting me started on a life long hobby. I traded the S&W and some money for a 6" Colt Trooper MKIII a year or so after I got it. I still regret the trade. The Trooper was a good gun that I used for a long time but it didn't have the memories that the S&W did.

My first handgun was a model 27 5 inch blue in 1973. We had just moved to a new neighborhood and were burglarized the second day. I had done some research and I thought it was Cooper who said a magnum cartridge benefits from a longer barrel. Went to a local shop and asked for a 5 inch model and he said yeah I think I have one. I gave a $50 deposit and came back 5 days later after payday. Just a simple register receipt, no background check or any other BS. Those really were the days!

Yes, my first Smith was a 4" Model 19 bought used but 99%. Second was a Model 36 bought new. I still have both.
