Saw a very clean one today. Owned by 80 year old man who bought it new and kept it in his sock drawer. By the condition, I believe it. Serial BSC2773. .38 special. I do like the adjustable sights. I never shot J frames very well but I think this one would be different with the longer barrel and adjustable sights.

The prefix is from late 1994 to early 1995. The collective thinks you should buy it. :)

Maybe. Got a few redundant things in safe. He's closed tomorrow and Monday. I'll think about it and stop in Tuesday. If it was meant to be it will still be there.

The Uncle Mikes, pictured here, would be the original grips on the 60-4.

Although I have taken a lesson from RdrBill's pictures posted and recently added some round to square targets to mine as well.

I'm pretty sure they were Pachmayr. I remember the medallion. I know Uncle Mike's. But I'll check Tuesday. Wouldn't shock me if the owner of the shop switched them since Uncle Mike's arent made anymore and he might have sold them. And the hammer was darker but firing pin was on the hammer.

Absolutely buy it at that price. I paid $600 for mine and very happy with it. You are right about it being a lot more accurate than most J-frames.

I've only held two of them. On the first one the side plate had an extreme gouge in it and required replacement. The dealer would not drop less than $400. The second, which I bought, was $750 and I paid it. I needed a "friend" for my 36-6. If I found one for $428 I would buy it without hesitation even though I already have one.

Some have casehardend hammers and triggers; others are flash chromed. I've had both. You'll probably be astounded by the accuracy.

These are ideal small trail guns where you don't need more than .38 Plus P power.

Mine ride in El Paso Saddlery holsters made to accommodate the full lug barrel. They stay loaded with Speer's 135 grain Short Barrel load.
But if I was in cougar, bear, or alligator country, I'd sub. 158 grain lead HP's, for added penetration. For that matter, I'd probably step up tp a .357. But I think the right .38 round will usually suffice. I think it'll kill coyotes and aggressive raccoons well.

I'll stop in on Tuesday. Wish they put a red insert on the front sight. Don't know why they wouldn't on an adjustable sighted gun, but then again my K-38 doesn't have it, but I figured that's just the way is was in the mid 50's. I can always put some nail polish on there.

I bought myself one (M60-4, .38 Spl) as a birthday present to me 26 years ago. In my opinion, it's one of the slickest little guns out there; I love it.

I bought one of the later ones (M60-10?) in .357. It chronographed the 125 grainers out at 1350 fps which were a bit stiff. I stuck with the .38.

BUY IT!!!

I love mine but wife now adopted as her own. Get it.
Fantastic j frame. Dont worry about 357. 38 is all I would ever shoot of a j frame anyhow

If the condition is satisfactory, BUY IT!!! You will most likely never find another at that price.
I have the later 60-10 and love it. As others have said it is a great light trail or hiking gun. Mine is far more accurate than I am.
The -10 is chambered for 357 and I shoot some 158 gr. 357 out if it but mostly I shoot standard 38's. Just a wonderful little gun.

I got it. It does have Pachmayr grips. I'll post pics later. Feels like a totally different gun with the 3" barrel and full underlug.
