Dwayne Bernard Hickman, an actor, producer and television director best known for his starring role in the 1950s and 60s sitcom The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, died of complications related to Parkinsons disease on Sunday. He was 87 years old.

I watched Dobie & Maynard when I was a kid. Enjoyed it back then. RIP Dwayne Hickman!

One of the first TV series that I remember watching. We had no TV at home, had to wait for a trip to town with Dad for the hardware store, usually followed by a couple of beers at the town tavern with a wobbly, wavy, black & white TV on a shelf by the cash register. Cherry Cokes for the kids, of course. 7 or 8 miles each way in a 52 Ford pickup, adults up front, kids sitting in the truck bed. Dwight Eisenhower was in the White House, all sorts of complaints that I didn't pay much attention to at the time.
